I’ve recently been using some acronyms around my girl friends to gossip about boys and relationship issues that I have to stop and define because they’ve never heard it used before. Here are a few shorthands, some common knowledge and some not, that are in my vocabulary and have made talking about these things that much easier/funnier ;)

OTP - On the Prowl
Ex. My boyfriend and I just broke up so I’m back OTP.

DTR - Define the Relationship
Ex. I’ve been hooking up with this guy but I don’t know what he’s thinking. Is it time to DTR?

LDR - Long Distance Relationship
Ex. LDRs are tough but I believe they can work if both sides are fully committed and the LD will end in some foreseeable future.

SO - Significant Other
Ex. Boyfriends, husbands, fiancees, etc.

PDA - Public Display of Affection
Ex. He’s not big into PDA, but it’s not ridiculous of me to want to hold hands in public sometimes, right?

TLC - Tender Loving Care; ISO - In Search Of
Ex. I’m ISO TLC.

Non Faves? Wouldn’t that mean I don’t like them? YES. These are, in fact, some of my favorite pet peeves. If that is even possible. See, lately, I feel like I’m being accosted by all of my pet peeves at once, so why not just vent about them? Right? I mean, it takes one to have the other, so letting you girls and guys know what gets my goat isn’t that far of a stretch. I promise this isn’t going to become a regular rant, lol promise.

I have this “Quote of the Day” gadget on my iGoogle from Quotationspage.com. Today’s quote happened to be fashion related, and here be the blog entry the quote hath inspired thee.

I base my fashion taste on what doesn’t itch. — Gilda Radner

This quote cracks me up but it makes sense. This quote also brings me to share what factors I consider to base my fashion taste on.

Who says geeky isn’t sexy? This adorable red garter belt has a simple design adorned with a NES controller. Honestly there’s nothing special about it other than the charm but how can I resist? It’s $22 on Etsy by Kizette. That’s not all she has; however, she has more geeky items such as a Pi Math Garter and Zombie Brain Garter. Looks like I know what I’m getting for my wedding night. *Wink wink*

This week Paris Hilton had the girls go through a makeover that wasn’t what they expected. Their stylist were former BFFs that were basically paired up with girls they had beef with while they were in the house (Corrie – Beige, Vannesa – Kaley, Lauren – Onch, Shelly - Natasha, Brittany – Kiki). Of course most of them ended up looking like crap but I think most of that was thanks to miscommunication. The stylists were told that the ugliest would win but really it was the prettiest. Shelly won (according to Corrie, messing with Shelly is like messing with Mother Teresa) and Vanessa lost. She was so disgusting it wasn’t even funny.

Next came a charity fundraising challenge: the girls were given a life-size cut out of Paris to use to raise money on Hollywood Boulevard. All the money raised would be donated to Animals of the Valley. It was honestly really stupid but sweet. Corrie obviously did the best thanks to her spokes model skills whereas Shelly was too shy to step up.

During all this time, the girls were going through serious drama. There was a lot of tension throughout the episode especially for Lauren since she’s ditzy, catty and inconsiderate which was brought up at elimination. All girls were up for talk and when Lauren was evaluated, the gloves were off. Everyone except Shelly spoke up about Lauren’s issues which obviously counted against her since Paris eliminated her for tonight. Not a big surprise, I’m hoping the next to go is Corrie or Vanessa.

From her new Circus album, Britney Spears has released her new single called “If You Seek Amy”.

I’m very excited for her new album but listening to this single, I’m a little disappointed. Not only did the cover of Circus remind me of Christina Aguilera’s Back to Basics but the songs keep getting worse. Womanizer was mediocre at best but this doesn’t even stay in my head after 10 listens. She may be pumping out award winners but honestly, her songs are total crap.

I’m glad Christina is making a comeback too. I always liked her better anyways.

And that’s cool with me! Who am I talking about? Why, walnutwhale, Polyvore stylist extraordinaire! I know you’re probably grumbling “not another Polyvore post” but hear me out! Besides, I won’t stop talking about Polyvore until EVERYONE is completely obsessed with it like myself! Anywho, back to walnutwhale. She, like many of my contacts on Polyvore; has a very sassy and unique style. What’s totally awesome about walnutwhale is her imagination. I love her “series” of sets that were inspired by video game and manga characters! I mean, who would have thought that Sheik from Zelda, or Kirakishou of Rozen Maiden could be fashion inspirations…WITHOUT needing a cosplay convention as an excuse!!!

Herve Leger Ombre Sequin Dress

This holiday season sequins are the perfect way to take you from wall flower to life of the party. I LOVE this Herve Leger Sequin Ombre Bandge Dress, but it’s $2,800 (at net-a-porter.com). I also love Les Chiffoniers Sequin Leggings, but they are $815 (at net-a-porter.com). The sequin jacket from Gryphon is the perfect dress up piece for jeans, but it is still pricey at $595 (at intermixonline.com). So for a more wallet-friendly version of this season’s sparkly attire, I suggest the Petite Sequin Prom Dress, $170 at topshop.com. Also, the black Sequin Leggings, $98 from express.com are great and they are buy 1 get 1 50% off. For a fancy jacket check out the Tux Delux Gold Spot Jacket, $135 at topshop.com. Also, top the look off with a sequined hat. I just got the silver Sequin Beret, $32 from topshop.com. For a girly twist on a tomboy classic, check out the Sequin Converse sneakers, $85 at shopbop.com. Another great simple sequined accessory is the expensive degrade sequin clutch by Rafe, $550 at revolveclothing.com. I don’t suggest wearing sequins head to toe, unless you want to, then I say go for it. But if you keep your outfit simple then have one items of sequins, it will make your outfit pop, without looking like you fell off a Broadway stage.

Yes it’s a hamster on a piano, eating popcorn.

It’s the most adorable Youtube video I’ve ever seen, and trust me I’ve seen quite a few. The song is uber catchy and actually pretty good considering what it’s about. For at least a week after seeing this video, I would constantly sing and hum this song.

My life is complete now that I’ve seen this video. /Sarcasm.

I used to religiously watch the Miss America pageant when I was a little girl, and even though I outgrew that phase pretty quickly I still profess a guilty curiosity about beauty pageants - especially the Miss World and Miss Universe pageants (to be fair, the intellectual in me is intrigued by questions of culturally-defined aesthetics. And chicks in swimsuits are hot, even from a straight girl’s perspective).

I definitely don’t care enough though to figure out when they’re airing and scout out a TV to watch these pageants, but their websites are totally useless so I’m usually just reduced to reading news clips and watching random online vids instead.

Apparently that’s not the case anymore: Miss World is finally getting its manicured nails on Web 2.0 and making an interactive, audience-friendly website in time for the 2008 competition (to be aired in December)! They’ve partnered with Amuso, a New York based media platform that specializes in contests, to create a social network centered around the Miss World competitors. Users can send them messages, view photos, read about their interests, and vote on their favorite candidate. These votes will be tallied to determine the winner of the People’s Choice, automatically placing the candidate in the final pool of 7 nominees for the top prize.

Everything reviewed on Girlybubble is coming from our own personal opinions unless specified otherwise. We want to simulate what friends do for other friends (recommend stuff that's good and flag down things that aren't), so it would totally defeat the purpose if we were being paid to say any of it. When this isn't the case, we'll be sure to say so, but we hope you enjoy everything that appears here just the same. Thanks for reading and participating!
