Let’s see, a short while ago I blogged about some David & Goliath Tees featuring these characters called the “Blah Girls” Well, apparently the guy behind my beloved Blah Girls is none other than Ashton Kutcher!!! Imagine how surprised I was to find this out. But considering all that he’s accomplished in hhis young life, should I have been so shocked? I thought the t-shirts were funny but the videos totally take the cake! XD Great job Ashton and team. LOL More »

Since I’ve been feeling kind of pms-y and sappy lately, I’ve been craving some time to curl up with a chick flick and bag of popcorn (kettle cooked, not butter… healthier and yummier!).

So if I ever do find that time in the near future, these would be my top 12 chick flick picks to rent (not in any particular order). More »

I was in the market for liquid eyeliner and false eyelashes so I figured I give these two a try.

I’ve been using the NYC liquid eyeliner in Jet Black 860A for a few weeks now. I paid $1.99 for a tube (0.2oz) which is very cheap compared to all the other brands where you barely get any for more money. However because it’s cheap, it’s harder to work with. There were quite a few times where it didn’t go on smoothly and I had to redip the brush multiple times. It’s a bit frustrating when you’re in a rush but it’s not completely unbearable. It isn’t as dramatic as the Sephora liquid eyeliner but I do love it and it’s great for a starter liquid eyeliner.

The false eyelashes (Glamour Eyelashes 974A Black for $1.99) are a different story. They say they’re self adhesive but we all know those don’t stick or stay as well. I literally stood there for 5 minutes trying to stick them on without glue with no luck. The hairs however feel great, a bit long, but they’re evenly spread apart so you don’t look like a drag queen. I still recommend getting the individual false eyelashes.

Overall, I would use them on a daily basis and maybe sometimes for special occasions depending on the look I’m going for. If you definitely don’t want to splurge and just need something the does the job, I would recommend these two.

In case you didn’t know Wendy (Xiaxue) is pretty fly. She’s like the most famous blogger in Singapore, and she’s even got an immense following internationally. I’ve been reading her blog off and on for about a few weeks now, and I’m already hooked.  So, last night here I was just reading Wendy’s blog, and this post catches my eye. Basically, it’s a retaliation of sorts because of some comments made by some of her readers (or anti-fans) about this virtual cat-fight she’s involved in with another blogger. While I don’t think it’s fly that she’s involved in a “who’s the biggest biatch” competition, I do think her so-what attitude is something awesome.

As far as I can gather, the two have been going at it: calling names, starting (or keeping) rumors going, dissing the other about alleged plastic surgeries, and what-not. It’s kinda childish, and altho I haven’t read the other girl’s blog I’m sure it’s taking away from the otherwise awesomeness that their blogs could be without the drama.

What made me post about Wendy and her rival, is Wendy’s “beat you to it” post, in which she openly (and quite amusingly) makes fun of herself. She posts “ugly” pictures from her past that her antis would have a field day with, along with her own degrading comments. Then to top it off, she says, “YEAH I Photoshop my pics! So what!”  and proceeds to do before and afters on herself. It’s hilarious! More »

I met a boy last night and was going to blog about the waiting game (i.e. how long you wait until the phone rings) on GirlyBubble until I realized that I had told him about this blog and anything I said here would essentially nullify the game! In fact I am already in danger of ruining the game already for having just said that much… I really hope he’s not silly enough to actually take a look at this thing o_O

How does Carrie Bradshaw do it? She writes a column that draws from her love life and yet never seems to fear that the guys she writes about will read it and alter the course of the dating game. The fun of romantic interests, after all, relies pretty heavily on two parties not really knowing what the other party is thinking and trying to gauge it. And if you’re writing about a certain topic in a public space and refering to real guys in your life, said personas can probably figure out you’re talking about them and get an unfair advantage of what’s going on in your head regarding the situation.

Then again maybe I haven’t watched enough Sex and the City to really know how she does it. But however she does, I need to know or else all of that is off limits and seriously, what’s girlier than boy gossip?!? A girly blog is clearly not complete without it =P

Tiffany’s recap of her posts was such a good idea that I’m going to copy her. After digging around Ming’s Bubble a bit here are some of I think are worth scrubbing down for another look. Hope you do too!

I know this girl who wears one color straight for a month. I mean, her whole wardrobe from head to toe will be that color. Like say in the month of October, she chooses to wear yellow. EVERYTHING FOR THIRTY-ONE DAYS WILL BE SOME SHADE OF YELLOW. I’m talking, shoes, nails, tops, bottoms, dresses, everything.

It may sound weird, but it was actually kind of cute. Like I remember one outfit she wore during the summer months (white was the theme) she would accent her look with cute little accessories that would make her “canvas” pop. Not to mention that it sped up the time it took for her to get ready in the morning, but it was so unique and refreshing. See, here in NYC, trends are more like epidemics. Once it catches on, it tends to get over done to the point of nausea, and since she did style her own way, it really made her stand out.

I really admired her for that, because it’s like if you don’t follow the fashion rules you’re a leper. We’ve all heard the mantras: Skinny jeans are in! Skinny jeans are out! Purple is the new black! Black is the new black! Give me a break! More »

This weekend I’m going to spending all my time at New York Anime Festival which started today. Even though it’s supposed to be calm, it was really busy for us because we were doing a Cosplay Photoshoot Contest which attracted a lot of cute cosplayers. I had no idea what to expect and I’m a little jealous/sad that I didn’t get to cosplay myself.

We took over 200 photos today which doesn’t even amount to how many we’ll be taking tomorrow. For now however, here’s a few from today that I thought stood out in my mind.

Note that I only picked girls this time! No offense to the boys but the girl in me has to represent. This in no way has any influence over the winners in the contest. Voting process will begin Monday. Good luck to everyone.

I was also told that most of the cosplayers were bringing their A-game tomorrow. More »

A little different from Shoe Shopping and Networking. But I’ve determined that a great solution to my stress shopping problem and dreary rainy weather is… book shopping! The thrill of buying a beautiful book that I’ve been meaning to read is almost as great if not greater than a fabulous pair of shoes. Definitely the nerdy English major in me coming out and making a splash (pun intended) =P

Today I spent some time perusing the local Barnes and Nobles to stay out of the rain. There’s something remarkably comforting about the quiet of a bookstore, the smell of fresh books and crisp pages, the orderliness of labels and bindings categorized and lined up in alphabetical order. A mini-vacation for the OCD intellectual in the middle of a hectic life if you will. Plus I enjoy the chance to take a look at guilty pleasures like “The Daring Book for Girls” and “Skinny Bitch.” Did you know that there is a Daily Candy lexicon book out?

And the best part is your vacation is only beginning when you leave the bookstore. I promptly took my new purchases with me to the nearest Au Bon Pain, plopped down with a steaming white chocolate latte, and started indulging in the exquisitely written stories.

So with that idealistic vision in mind, here are the fruits of my book shopping: More »

Boy that was a loaded premier. Season 5 looks like it’s going to be a loaded season. Spoilers after the jump (click more) in case some of you missed it and will be watching it later on ABC’s really sweet online streaming.

To whet your appetites, they packed a LOT of interesting setup in the first episode without ripping everything apart like they did last season. And I’m especially relieved that they got back into the DNA of a good Grey’s Anatomy episode - some sass, some mush, some bitching, some forgiving, some tragedy, some comedy, some darkness, some hope, some overhead problems, some underlying issues, some steamy new kissing, some great quotables, and of COURSE romantic tensions playing out all over the place in all different ways. I’m happy and eager for this season to unfold and hoping all you other fanatics are too ;D

Now for some spoilers: More »

Ever notice how when we girls have an unhealthy obsession with heels, boots, sandals or just shoes in general it’s considered cute, girly, and almost like it’s to be expected. But on the other hand, when a guy has that exact same adoration of women’s footwear, he’s considered to be a creep with a gross fetish. Well, that’s not always the case. Take the online fashion magazine Feet Man Seoul, for example.

While here in the States, online fashion magazines are almost a dime a dozen, Feet Man Seoul stands out in South Korea’s online community. Mainly because it is probably the first of its kind in the country, as well as the fact that it’s written in both English and Korean (which is really rare, considering). More »

In Korea I was some what spoiled since my hairstylist was a friend of my mom’s so I always got a discount on getting my hair done (trim = $1 - $5, sometimes free depending on length). I miss my stylist so much and now that I’m in the US again, you would think I would just bite the bullet and deal with the overpriced salons (trim = $17?!) but no I didn’t. These past few months I’ve been trimming my own bangs which have saved loads for me. Why bother having someone else do it when you can do just the same for free? Yeah you can say it’s professional and safe but it’s really simple but more on that later.

So far I’ve stuck to the semi side swept bangs but I’ve wanted to change it up for awhile now that they’re long again. I haven’t decided what style I want so I figured I would ask you!

P.S. I just noticed how huge my forehead looks in that photo. LOL! More »

I made the shortest trip ever into the city today - a grand total of one and a half hours pretty much entirely spent at Té Casan, a shoe boutique in SoHo made famous by Natalie Portman’s vegan shoe collection sold there. The COO is a member of 85 Broads, a women’s career networking organization, and hosted this shopping/networking party at Té Casan for the women of 85 Broads. I’ve been a member of 85 Broads for a year and decided to go check it out.

Essentially a shopping party for loaded career women means lots of shnazzy pantsuits, champagne, and trying on boxes upon boxes of $400 shoes. As a poor college kid I can’t actually afford limited edition designer boots (although I tried a few pairs on and they’re SO comfortable/cute I almost died). Nor did I have a lot of time to stick around and schmooz. But it definitely brought the store to my attention since I frequent SoHo a lot and for some reason have never gone far enough west to find Té Casan. I was also able to talk to Ayesha D’Souza, the hostess, who is gorgeous and seems like a typical 85 Broads woman - ibanker who went to Wharton and now runs a retail startup business - fabulous and successful and glamorous! I love cakes that are well decorated and colorful; it makes eating them more fun!

While browsing in New York, my boyfriend (who knows I’m a pig) sent me photos via BlackBerry of cakes from one of the many bakeries. I was pleasantly surprised at how cute they are as I’ve never seen ones like these. While the pigs are probably symbol of me, my favorites are the tea pot and the blow fish. Hopefully next time I’ll be with him and beg him to buy me one or I can go ninja style and just buy one for myself! More »

So it’s Wednesday again, and that means more of Tiffy’s faves! Today, I say to the guys who lurk; I hope you’re ready for the girl talk because I’m going to open the door to the slumber party, and let you guys in on one of my favorite subjects: GUYS!

So, I bet you’re wondering what my favorite types of guys are. Well, there are a couple of attributes of the opposite sex that make me swoon, and luckily for me, there are a handful of male celebs who meet the criteria. Get ready to drool, because here’s my (short)list of favorite male celebrities!!

Asian sticky rice is so easy to make and not to mention delicious. I don’t even know how people eat other rice. My mom taught me when I was a kid (she was too lazy to make it herself) and since then I’ve become pro. Yes there is such a thing and now I will teach you young grasshopper:

1. You need a rice cooker. Nuff said.

2. You’ll need rice! Duh!

3. Measure the amount of rice you want (I would say about 1 cup) and put it into the rice cooking bowl/pot.

4. Rinse your rice three times (or more). Basically just fill the bowl with water, shake it around a little and then dump out the water.

5. Now you’ll have to put water – this is what makes your rice sticky or not. You can easily just put in 1 cup of water for every cup of rice you put it OR you can take your pointer finger and the water line should come up to the first bend on your finger (for 1 cup of rice). After you’ve done it for awhile you’ll be able to tell just by looking which is when the water line is .5 inches above the rice.

6. Now you wait till it’s done cooking. What I do often afterwards is that I stir the rice and let it sit for another few minutes.

7. And that’s all too it! Good luck! Next time I’ll teach you to make kimbap or rice balls.

I think I want a new coat. Something cuter than the old pea coat I currently own, and something warmer than my bubble. I was doing some window shopping online at shops such as Delia’s and Alloy because I’m too broke to actually get what I want right now, and they’ve got a few cute ‘uns in stock.

It’s that time of the month again. I feel bloated, achey, fatigued, unsatisfied, angsty, and on the verge of screaming “MOVE BITCH” if anyone crosses my path the wrong way. I can’t focus on my work and I can’t stand everyone around me, which is a far cry from my usual happy-go-lucky self.

Why does PMS suck so much? Why is it that girls are automatically programmed to be bi-polar on a monthly cycle? And why is it that all the information that’s out there about PMS is dense medical stuff I haven’t got patience for? (especially when I’m PMSing and impatient for relief from my gloomy uncomfortable self)

PMS is all about self-knowledge and I’m still working on trying to figure my own cycle out. The severity of PMS and coping mechanisms differ for every girl, but here are a few easy and handy ways for me to spot it and deal with it each month that I’ve figured out over the last eight years of the monster: More »

I love so many kinds of drinks - teas, sodas, juices, soy milk, shakes, smoothies, coffees, cocktails, power drinks, punches, the list goes on and on.

But here are a set of non-alcoholic drinks that are my all-time favorites and must-haves whenever I’m somewhere that offers it. Girly, delicious, and super feel-good treats! I’ve listed one for each season, so it’s time to try out the one for autumn now that summer’s over.
