If you have naturally kinky, curly, coily, or even wavy hair, then you know how difficult it can be to “control” it. I say “control” because we all know waves and curls look best when they’re chaotic, but it’s a controlled chaos we curly girls strive for. However, with all of the evil alcohol and silicone laced hair products out there, sometimes the price we pay for pretty coils is a heavy one. The damage most mainstream products wreak on our hair is serious and frustrating, especially when you try so hard to treat your fragile curls nicely. Well, ladies, if you’re looking for a product that gives you luscious body, no crunch and is all natural, then let me introduce you to Kinky Curly Custard. It’s the gift of the curly gods and trust me, once you try this stuff, you’ll be hooked!

It’s so fun to use: it has the consistency of snot, or slime…but it smells sooooo delicious. Kinda like warm vanilla cupcakes or some other sugary confection. The first time I used it tho, I got this white sticky residue after my hair dried (alright you pervs, that’s enough), so be careful when you use it that you don’t glob on too much. A little REALLY goes a long way with this stuff.

I’ve heard a ton of rave reviews, but also some complaints about the buildup, so I just want to say that you kinda have to play with it before you get the application right for YOUR hair. You should use other’s experiences (good or bad) on how it turned out for them as a rule of thumb, but remember, no two curlies are the same! *Oh, also, it really really helps if your hair is soaking wet when you apply it, regardless of the texture. I like to apply it in the shower, so I don’t drip all over the everywhere. =P

If you have very fine hair, you probably only need about a nickle or dime sized amount depending on the length. If you have really dense curls like mine, you’ll probably need a bit more (and to apply it in sections) but anywho, I love how soft and bouncy it made my curls. I got so many compliments on not only the smell (one guy told me he wanted to eat my hair!) but also the style (”how’d you get you’re hair to do that!?”).

SOOO just how do you apply this stuff anyway right? Well, Youtuber Str8isis, has made a few videos that demonstrate what is, in my opinion, the most effective way to apply KCC.

Cool right?  Well, I tried it her way since I figured she and I have similar hair textures, but I can only promise an after picture, because I refuse to post a pic with my hair looking KA-RAY-ZEE! lol VIOLA!

It totally defined my otherwise frizzy poof of a coiff without any helmet head affect, or stickiness! If you’re a curly girl in need of some tendril TLC, then I really recommend that you try it! And if you’re having doubts on whether or not it works for your hair; check out the Kinky Curly site or their youtube video, where you can see how the concoction works well on fine hair as well as thick hair. The only drawback I’d have to say it has is the price tag : $26 bucks for the 16 oz. jar. However, it’s worth every penny, so maybe it isn’t that much of a drawback. I mean, you get what you pay for right? Speaking of getting it, you can order it right off of the KCC site, or if you’re in New York, it can be had at Ricky’s, a store I can absolutely move into. I love Ricky’s..but more on that later.
