Last month, I let you guys in on one of my favorite online fashion magazines based in Seoul, South Korea called Feet Man Seoul. Hopefully you girls and guys have been checking them out because they’ve been covering all kinds of cool events like Seoul Fashion Week as well as their usual street fashion. And if you’re like me, looking through all of the photographs is probably your favorite thing about the site, along with the commentary from the writers, and visitors alike. Well, I just found out yesterday that FMS is planning on releasing a photobook of their best work! How awesome is that? Based on the information given on FMS, the photo book will be a look book of sorts documenting interesting fashion statements and trends from the past six months for only 50 bucks!

According to recent studies, anthropologists have found that women in the Jomon period were addicted to sweets. They studied the teeth of 300 bodies buried in Niigata, Japan showing that there was an unusually high level of tooth decay.

While that’s interesting, who doesn’t love sweets? For as long as I can remember, chocolate has been the number 1 favorite among women especially during that time of the month. I have a jar of chocolate sitting on my desk right now just in case of emergencies. Sweets have always been my pick me up when I can’t get through a tough time or just when I have trouble concentrating. That extra small punch of sweetness is my addiction and who can blame me? Anything that tastes good and makes you feel good is hard to resist. Of course I’m only referring to food!

I enjoyed one of the most beautiful and delicious plates of sashimi I’ve had in a very long time today (pictured on the left).

My friend and I took advantage of a student promotion coupon to go to this creative sushi bar in New Haven called Miya’s. They have really amazing and creative sushi creations such as the kiss the smiling piggie roll made with hot sweet potato, mango chutney, and pine nuts - absolutely delicious and a must-have whenever I go to this place.

Today I asked for a recommendation since there were so many choices and the waiter recommended the nine spice sashimi, an “ancient Chinese-style fresh water fish sashimi seasoned with Chinese firecracker sake, citrus & spices.” We had no idea what to expect but when it arrived at the table I was delighted - the arrangement is gorgeous and the flavors explosive! The choice of tilapia was great, since the gentle pink of the thinly sliced fish combined with green cilantro created the perfect edible rose =9

After the jump: more pictures of this sashimi rose and the wasabi/ginger arrangement accompanying it…

I haven’t celebrated Halloween in years (since 2003) but I still love the spirit of the holiday (if you can call it that). There are not very many things NOT to like about Halloween but there are some things that I especially love.

Also for those of you going out, please be safe. The world is still scary even without Halloween. While I won’t be out partying or trick-or-treating, I will be enjoying it from the comforts of my home.

Dressing Up
Who doesn’t like dressing up? I love it! You get to be someone/something else for one night and no one can make fun of you for it. Well maybe they can.

Sorting Candy
I always hated collecting the candy but I loved seeing what I got. I would always put them into little groups depending on what candy they were so I knew which ones I would eat first.

Trading Candy
And after sorting, I would trade all the candy I hated with my friends for something I actually liked. It was kind of like money to me.

Late Nights
When Halloween was on a school night, it would be the only night my parents would let me stay out late and sometimes skip school the next day.

Halloween Bash
In high school (when I got to old to go out), I would volunteer my time to my student council to help put on a “Halloween Bash” for little kids. It’s pretty much Halloween inside our school. We would have classroom to classroom candy hand outs, games in the cafeteria, a haunted hallway, etc; lots of fun!

I just watched Basic Instinct for the first time (VERY gory and VERY soft-porn and VERY teasing kind of scary movie, don’t watch it if you can’t get into that stuff or don’t have a protective boy to watch it with).

One thing that has definitely stayed with me besides a permanent fear of ice picks is how drop dead gorgeous Sharon Stone looked in the white dress, white scarf, white heels, french twist look. That kind of clean old-school glamor is to die for (literally).

She also has this one line - “I’ve always had a fondness for white silk scarves” - and if you’ve seen the movie you know why the white scarf is important.

But for all-intensive non-movie-related purposes, what’s your white scarf? What’s your one accessory that goes with everything and defines you?

Ironically for me I think it’s quickly becoming my black pashmina scarf =P

Forever on the search for those ultimate dramatic lashes you always see, but rarely imitate? You aren’t alone. Whether it be high end or drugstore, people all across the world have been using mascara since it was introduced. From the first 1913 mascara experiment from T.L. Williams (who eventually started Maybelline) to modern day rubber brushes, the surprisingly rich history of mascara is quite interesting. In my quest for the best mascara, I’ve encountered a few drugstore favorites that don’t break the bank. All are under 10 bucks and have given me lashes that could be off the pages of Allure.

As we all know, those cravings for cookies, cake, choclate and ice cream can be intensified when we’re under lots of pressure from ourselves and others, either real or imagined. It can be even worse for us girls, since we’ve got the added bonus of PMS bloating (yay!). So if you’re like me, and wondering how to stop, or at least curb those cravings, here’s a 7 point list from Lynn Grieger of NBC and iVillage’s Your Total Health website.

Yes I did. It was a bit of a spur of the moment thing. After recent events, I was led to find some old photos that I never knew I had.

I was totally feeling nostalgic while looking at them. I really miss high school (or being young and carefree in general) but I’ll talk more about that another day.

In these photos, I notice that I had fringed bangs (photo below, I’m on the right). I thought they looked really nice so I figured I would try it out again. I know I only cut my bangs a few weeks ago but they’ve grown out now and I really like the way I look with bangs. So far, I’m happy with it but my boyfriend is making me second guess myself. What do you guys think?

I’ve already made plans for myself for Halloween that don’t include dressing up but since Tiffy and Mingy said who they would be, here’s who I want to be.

I always like dressing up (duh I’m a girl) so when I saw this photo of my favorite Jpop artist, Ayumi Hamasaki, I was in complete awe of her beauty. The whole “big” dress, sleeves, hat thing is adorable and I would love to flaunt it. But because of my size, chances are I would be buried in the fabric but incredibly warm.

I’m not going to get the chance to live out this fantasy but hopefully next time a costume opportunity approaches, I’ll be able to.
