Last month, I let you guys in on one of my favorite online fashion magazines based in Seoul, South Korea called Feet Man Seoul. Hopefully you girls and guys have been checking them out because they’ve been covering all kinds of cool events like Seoul Fashion Week as well as their usual street fashion. And if you’re like me, looking through all of the photographs is probably your favorite thing about the site, along with the commentary from the writers, and visitors alike. Well, I just found out yesterday that FMS is planning on releasing a photobook of their best work! How awesome is that? Based on the information given on FMS, the photo book will be a look book of sorts documenting interesting fashion statements and trends from the past six months for only 50 bucks!
According to recent studies, anthropologists have found that women in the Jomon period were addicted to sweets. They studied the teeth of 300 bodies buried in Niigata, Japan showing that there was an unusually high level of tooth decay.
While that’s interesting, who doesn’t love sweets? For as long as I can remember, chocolate has been the number 1 favorite among women especially during that time of the month. I have a jar of chocolate sitting on my desk right now just in case of emergencies. Sweets have always been my pick me up when I can’t get through a tough time or just when I have trouble concentrating. That extra small punch of sweetness is my addiction and who can blame me? Anything that tastes good and makes you feel good is hard to resist. Of course I’m only referring to food!

I enjoyed one of the most beautiful and delicious plates of sashimi I’ve had in a very long time today (pictured on the left).
My friend and I took advantage of a student promotion coupon to go to this creative sushi bar in New Haven called Miya’s. They have really amazing and creative sushi creations such as the kiss the smiling piggie roll made with hot sweet potato, mango chutney, and pine nuts - absolutely delicious and a must-have whenever I go to this place.
Today I asked for a recommendation since there were so many choices and the waiter recommended the nine spice sashimi, an “ancient Chinese-style fresh water fish sashimi seasoned with Chinese firecracker sake, citrus & spices.” We had no idea what to expect but when it arrived at the table I was delighted - the arrangement is gorgeous and the flavors explosive! The choice of tilapia was great, since the gentle pink of the thinly sliced fish combined with green cilantro created the perfect edible rose =9
After the jump: more pictures of this sashimi rose and the wasabi/ginger arrangement accompanying it… More »
I haven’t celebrated Halloween in years (since 2003) but I still love the spirit of the holiday (if you can call it that). There are not very many things NOT to like about Halloween but there are some things that I especially love.
Also for those of you going out, please be safe. The world is still scary even without Halloween. While I won’t be out partying or trick-or-treating, I will be enjoying it from the comforts of my home.
Dressing Up Who doesn’t like dressing up? I love it! You get to be someone/something else for one night and no one can make fun of you for it. Well maybe they can.
Sorting Candy I always hated collecting the candy but I loved seeing what I got. I would always put them into little groups depending on what candy they were so I knew which ones I would eat first.
Trading Candy And after sorting, I would trade all the candy I hated with my friends for something I actually liked. It was kind of like money to me.
Late Nights When Halloween was on a school night, it would be the only night my parents would let me stay out late and sometimes skip school the next day.
Halloween Bash In high school (when I got to old to go out), I would volunteer my time to my student council to help put on a “Halloween Bash” for little kids. It’s pretty much Halloween inside our school. We would have classroom to classroom candy hand outs, games in the cafeteria, a haunted hallway, etc; lots of fun!

I just watched Basic Instinct for the first time (VERY gory and VERY soft-porn and VERY teasing kind of scary movie, don’t watch it if you can’t get into that stuff or don’t have a protective boy to watch it with).
One thing that has definitely stayed with me besides a permanent fear of ice picks is how drop dead gorgeous Sharon Stone looked in the white dress, white scarf, white heels, french twist look. That kind of clean old-school glamor is to die for (literally).
She also has this one line - “I’ve always had a fondness for white silk scarves” - and if you’ve seen the movie you know why the white scarf is important.
But for all-intensive non-movie-related purposes, what’s your white scarf? What’s your one accessory that goes with everything and defines you?
Ironically for me I think it’s quickly becoming my black pashmina scarf =P
Forever on the search for those ultimate dramatic lashes you always see, but rarely imitate? You aren’t alone. Whether it be high end or drugstore, people all across the world have been using mascara since it was introduced. From the first 1913 mascara experiment from T.L. Williams (who eventually started Maybelline) to modern day rubber brushes, the surprisingly rich history of mascara is quite interesting. In my quest for the best mascara, I’ve encountered a few drugstore favorites that don’t break the bank. All are under 10 bucks and have given me lashes that could be off the pages of Allure. More »
As we all know, those cravings for cookies, cake, choclate and ice cream can be intensified when we’re under lots of pressure from ourselves and others, either real or imagined. It can be even worse for us girls, since we’ve got the added bonus of PMS bloating (yay!). So if you’re like me, and wondering how to stop, or at least curb those cravings, here’s a 7 point list from Lynn Grieger of NBC and iVillage’s Your Total Health website. More »
Yes I did. It was a bit of a spur of the moment thing. After recent events, I was led to find some old photos that I never knew I had.
I was totally feeling nostalgic while looking at them. I really miss high school (or being young and carefree in general) but I’ll talk more about that another day.
In these photos, I notice that I had fringed bangs (photo below, I’m on the right). I thought they looked really nice so I figured I would try it out again. I know I only cut my bangs a few weeks ago but they’ve grown out now and I really like the way I look with bangs. So far, I’m happy with it but my boyfriend is making me second guess myself. What do you guys think? More »
I’ve already made plans for myself for Halloween that don’t include dressing up but since Tiffy and Mingy said who they would be, here’s who I want to be.
I always like dressing up (duh I’m a girl) so when I saw this photo of my favorite Jpop artist, Ayumi Hamasaki, I was in complete awe of her beauty. The whole “big” dress, sleeves, hat thing is adorable and I would love to flaunt it. But because of my size, chances are I would be buried in the fabric but incredibly warm.
I’m not going to get the chance to live out this fantasy but hopefully next time a costume opportunity approaches, I’ll be able to.
Halloween episode!
So in this week’s episodes, Victory dreams of Joe falling to his death after climbing a mountain. She becomes worried and eventually warns him. When she does; however, Joe is actually preparing for to climb a mountain because he’s afraid he’ll die at his age like his father. Regardless of her warning, Joe tells her he’s still going and that they’re not friends. Victory takes it hard and it continues to haunt her. In the end, Joe comes to Victory (after canceling his trip) to confine in her about his worries.
Nico also battles with her significant other as Kirby struggles to make ends meet. She asks to take him on a trip to Aspen but he can’t afford it so he turns from struggling photographer to paparazzi to pay for the trip. Meanwhile, Nico is asked to bring on a difficult magazine owner that’s a selfish, womanizing pig but Nico manages to handle him and prove to Griffin that she can do her job well.
Now a housewife, Wendy begins to struggle with the absence of her husband. She confines within an old friend after Sal is offered her old job. The two bond together which then leads to a kiss. Wendy, completely uncomfortable, pushes him away and confines within her friends. She admits she regrets what happened and misses her husband but also that she didn’t NOT like the kiss. The girls reassure her that it was okay because nothing else happened. The episode ends with her calling Shane to tell him that she loves and misses him. More »
Remember that laptop clutch Kimmie saw at the Vivenne Tam NYC Fashion Week Show? Well, we just got word that HP is producing the so-called HP Vivienne Tam Mini Edition “Digital Clutch” to have it in consumer hands before the holidays! Apparently you can reserve one by calling 1-800-230-5752 or visiting hpdirect.com/minivt. This guarantees you the opportunity to buy one in early December.
Now I definitely don’t need to write a birthday/christmas wishlist anymore because this darling toy is enough for both of them (I’m a December baby). I have no idea if I’ll be able to muster up $700 or convince my parents they love me enough in time to get this, but I’m definitely putting one on reserve just in case! At any rate, it’s the epitome of high fashion meets geek meets Chinese design, what is there not to be insanely excited about?! Adorable tiny portable size and weight, gorgeous reds and pinks, Vivenne Tam-designed wallpaper and covering, I’m already drooling.

If you don’t know by now I’m completely obsessed with Polyvore. So it would only makes sense that I let you guys in on my favorite sets and their owners right? Right.
1.Untitled: This set was made by VIP and I think it’s fabulous. I like the pattern of this dress and the leaf-shaped jewelry…a lot. This would be perfect to wear on a nice summer evening, don’t you think?
2.Ready for anything…: Created by Goldeneyes924, this set is very simple, and very chic. It’s pulled together without looking stuffy, and I love how she accessorized with the beret and earrings. Plus those boots are fierce.
3. elevator love letter, stars: Another set with some fierce feet candy, this set was created by elevator love letter. I’m in love with the whole look, and even though this was created in the springtime, this outfit can easily work now with some thck tights, or skinny jeans. More »
This week’s episode was a little frustrating. While it did have its usual twists, some of Paris’ decisions were disappointing.
The girls were first tested on their knowledge of Paris through a mini game show. At the end up the game, Kiki won and had the choice between shopping and time with Paris. She of course picked Paris because her ass would have been kicked off if she didn’t.
Meanwhile Paris tells the rest of the girls that Corrie will be picking one of the remaining girls to be eliminated. She made this decision due to the fact that the rest of the girls ganged up on Corrie for being racist. Uh what? This completely pissed me off. While I don’t support the fact that they were all against her, she should have just said sorry in the first place. Note that she waited till after she was going to be eliminated in the previous episode to apologize for all her actions.
Anyways, Corrie ends up picking Zui because she thought Zui would make a bad friend and because of her threats (two episodes ago she threatened to stab Corrie). Uh it was Corrie’s fault for instigating the situation.
Next Paris tells the girls that they’ll be playing “7 minutes in Heaven” with one of her celebrity friends. The man turns out to be rapper “Dirt Nasty” who isn’t that cute and apparently smells bad. Most of the girls were able to keep to themselves; however, it was a different story for Lauren, Natasha, Kayley and Brittany. Lauren ended up kissing him and Kayley molested him with a pink feather while Brittany bored Paris out of her mind with idle chatter and Natasha gave the typical attitude.
Finally it was elimination where Kayley, Natasha and Brittany were up for talks. Paris didn’t appreciate Kayley being a slut, Brittany’s boring show and again Natasha’s attitude. In the end, Natasha went home for being a bitch. Finally! It’s been three episodes.
My makeup bag is quite the dirty little thing so I finally got off my arse and cleaned it out.
First I thew out all the junk makeup I never wear. It took up so much space that when I did take it out, my makeup bag could actually close with ease. I also threw most of it away since they were old and barely usable.
Next I wiped down the makeup products I did keep with some warm water. While it doesn’t disinfect it, it does keep the bottle looking nice and clean. You can use makeup remover with antibacterial or just soap if you’re feeling really germ-a-phobic. You should only keep certain products for a certain amount of time.
Last is the makeup bag. I’ve had it for a few years now so it’s a bit beaten; the bag is tearing, the zipper is broken and not to mention dirty all around. While I could save money and just throw it in the washer, I decided to switch to my cute Elizabeth Arden makeup bag that I’ve had stashed in my closet. Sometimes you just have to say goodbye!
It’s so nice and clean now and I’ve made it my priority to keep it that way. More »
In case you didn’t know, the easiest and probably cheapest way to revamp your look is to get your eyebrows done. Why? It’s quite simple: your eyebrows are like the Diana Ross of your face. They’re the main show. Think about it; what’s the point of having beautiful makeup if you’re eyebrows look a hot mess? Plus shaping your eyebrows will instantly “open up” your face, giving you a more bright eyed appearance.
First, let me just say, not all eyebrows are shaped the same way. Some are arched and some aren’t. Some are thick, and some are thin. It doesn’t matter which you have, or even prefer, just as long as they’re groomed you’ll look great, with or without makeup. There are several ways you can achieve pretty eyebrows: plucking with tweezers, waxing, and threading. Yes I joined the Nintendo DS cult but it’s for a good reason. Nintendo has taken games to a higher level by providing self help games that teach players better living. How can you even second guess me?
I’m a horrible cook so when Nintendo released Cooking Guide this past Wednesday, I was excited. I’ve food poisoned people in the past so you can only imagine how Iron Chef I am. The game is meant to teach you various recipes through a personal trainer. The game was official introduced at the 5th Annual Women’s Conference in Southern California.
They also had some Wii Fit going on which only goes to show how Nintendo would have made the perfect boyfriend if he where a human.

If I had to pick the #1 thing I miss about my childhood, it would be Disney movies. And if I had to pick my top 10 list of fictional guys I’ve fallen in love with, a very handsome portion goes to the Disney princes and heroes. There just simply isn’t enough credit out there being given to them in comparison to the princesses (of which I spent pretty much every Halloween dressing up as one so I guess that’s understandable). But if those princesses are the stuffs of little boy wet dreams, then their counterpart princes are definitely the stuffs of little girl romanticism.
So with that here are my five favorite Disney princes and heroes - the ones who shaped my image of the ideal man growing up and have made my expectations about love unrealistic: More »
I’ve never played Guitar Hero but after watching this commercial, I think I just might. The commercial features 4 of sports famous stars: Kobe Bryant, Micheal Phelps, Alex Rodriguez and Tony Hawk. They four are grouped together in the famous Tom Cruise “Risky Business” scene as they jam to Bob Seger – Old Time Rock and Roll.
I’ve nearly watched the video more than 20 times and can’t believe how well the 4 pull it off. Not only is the video scene hilarious on it’s own, but the way all 4 really get into the song playing on their mini Guitar Hero props is something that keeps me smiling. Activision has really outdone themselves.
Also, why are they wearing pink? No idea but they do look cute! More »
Okay, I admit right here and now that I love junk food, especially when I am in the right mood for them. I enjoy having them for snacks, and whether they are sweet or salty, anything is good to go for me. Normally, though, I prefer Korean snacks over the American ones. However, due to China’s melamine scandal, I’ve been forbidden to eat Korean snacks for . . . over a month now. Therefore, I had to turn to the American alternative. Right now my current favourite snacks are listed below. More »
As much as I am a manga fan, I am not a real big western comic book fanatic. Part of it has to do with the lack of influence, and the other part deals with the fact that, even as a kid, I did not like the western drawing style compared to the eastern ones. However, there were two comic series that I enjoyed and collect. One is the Archie comic books, which I still collect until this day. The other is now a defunct series of Marvel’s Barbie and Barbie Fashion lines. These comic books were released in the early 90s until about 1995. More »
