I have this semi-secret love for bags, especially messenger style bags. I hate purses because the strap never stays on my shoulder, so I constantly have to hold on to it, which is not exactly fun. However, for the longest time I only had two bags I really used to go out with. Well, more than two if you count backpacks. However, now a third came into place, and it will prove to be useful. I’m not really a chocoholic despite popular belief, I just like to indulge in it every once in awhile.

I recently received these European chocolate candies from a friend. After trying one of the white chocolate ones, I realized the center was filled with alcoholic crème. Note that I don’t drink so when my mouth was filled with bitterness, I immediately gave the rest to my boyfriend to eat.

However I couldn’t resist trying another one because the flavor was coffee. For whatever reason, this one wasn’t filled with alcoholic crème or if it was I could barely taste it over the coffee. It was definitely more enjoyable then the previous one.

Ann, one of our readers, has kindly alerted us to this opportunity to ask Vivenne Westwood whatever’s on your mind (thank you!):

Time Magazine traditionally interviews a prominent individual for its weekly magazine, and recently it has been allowing its readership to do the asking.

In honor of her retrospective finally making it to Beijing and Hong Kong, Vivienne Westwood is taking questions on TIME.com. You can post your questions and see other people’s questions here, and she might actually answer it!

A bit more about this amazing and eccentric designer as described by Time:

For over 35 years she has had a knack for combining the traditional with the outrageous. From defining London’s punk movement in the 70s to creating that extravagant wedding dress that Carrie wore in Sex and the City: The Movie, her designs have always shocked and turned heads. This December, after being deemed inappropriate by a government spokesman in 2004, the V&A retrospective on her work, Vivienne Westwood: A Life in Fashion, will finally make its way to Hong Kong. Vivienne Westwood will now take your questions.

Ugh the show is starting to get frustrating. Thank God there are only 5 girls left.

So in this episode the girls were given the challenge to get as many guys back to the LA mansion as possible. While Corrie and Lauren got around, Shelly, Brittany, Kaley and Vanessa held back. In the end, only 5 guys showed up in total (Vanessa had two whereas Shelly and Brittany had none). Vanessa won the challenge and was given the power to help Paris with the upcoming challenge and elimination.

Next was judgment time where Paris and Vanessa got to grill everyone’s past. They brought in video tapes of their enemies saying who they really were. Most of them were pretty scandalous especially Corrie who’s ex friend said she slut it up around town; however, as expected Shelly was the sweetest with nothing bad to say (but someone thought she might be boring). This Fall season feather adorned accessories are all the rage. My favorites are from indie designer Allysun Dutra’s label, Kittinhawk. The unique hand made hats, headbands, and jewelry are crafted from vintage and recycled materials like painted leather, tulle, and of course, feathers. The look ranges from flapper girl to Victorian punk girl. The cocktail hats and headbands make an edgy statement or go for the more demure feather necklace or earrings. Kittinhawk is for stylish chicks who aren’t afraid to be extravagant and fancy while still being environmentally conscious. Check out www.kittinhawk.com for the entire line. The line is also available at Belljar boutique in San Francisco, CA. Now fly away in style! More »

KahriAnne Kerr is just a simple farmer’s daughter from small town Iowa, who somehow wound up being a hoodstuck New Yorker for the last 5 years. KahriAnne graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology’s fashion design program in 2005. KahriAnne is an independent fashion designer and owner of the hip, funky, rocker chic women’s contemporary clothing line Kahri by KahriAnne Kerr. KahriAnne loves to walk the streets of NYC like they are her own personal catwalk. Shake what ya momma gave ya (or didn’t give ya in my case)!

I woke up early this morning only to be greeted by delicious looking baked goods! I never eat breakfast much less eat anything right after I wake up but I just couldn’t resist this time.

There were 3 boxes of goodies: 3 different types of cakes (2 of each), an apple cream cheese cup cake and a cherry cup cake. Talk about fattening but it’s the holiday season (well almost) so my attempts to stay thin are completely out the door.

While there was so much to choose from, I decided to go with the chocolate cake. To my surprise, it had little pieces of cherry inside which made it 10x better. Not only that but the frosting/cream wasn’t overly sweet which is huge for me. Frosting/cream is meant to taste good, not kill your teeth! It was so delicious; I’m even craving it right now.

My boyfriend had the apple cream cheese cup cake which had apple bits inside. It was pretty good but not as good as my cake! More »

In honor of the 90s Party that’s going down this Friday; I thought that this week, I’d do my ‘Fab Faves‘ on my favorite fashions from the 90s. Although I was still a kid during the 90s, I was very fashion minded (or so I thought). Yep, I rocked my jelly shoes,  British Knights, and my L.A. Gear sneakers (with the double laces) and I also did the double scrunched sock thing. Not to mention, I always within an arms reach of my LipSmackers which I believe may have been the start of my lip gloss addiction. Anywho, here’s a few other 90s nostaglic fashion trends that still love!

So the latest update on the boy story I started a while ago is not a great one - we’re no longer together =/ However, it’s definitely not as devastating as it sounds so this is not a boohoo post. It’s actually been a good thing in some ways, i.e. giving me an excuse to do cathartic Grey’s Anatomy catch-up sessions and traipse around campus in ridiculous heels with Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” blaring through my earbuds. I love the “Single Ladies” song, and now can fully enjoy it with my new single lady status!

Anyway, if you thought you were reading a relationship-talk post, think again. This is actually a DANCE post (I just couldn’t resist the personal life update and segue into the real content). I’ve been watching two dance videos of the “Single Ladies” song: the sexy hip-shaking high heeled original Beyoncé music video and a much funkier street hip-hop choreography to the same song by Luam (probably the best hip hop teacher at Broadway Dance Center in NYC - check out her site Wild Child Nation: Love Understands All Music).

Click “more” to see the vids and commentary. And check back some other time for relationship talk (I’ve been piling up a substantial amount of breakup experience and advice). More »

I’m the type of person who likes to personalize/customize everything if I can so it’s only natural that I would want to decorate my cell phone! I’m not just talking about the cute little charm you can attach to your cell but actually decking out the faceplate with decor.

Cell phone decoration has become quite the trend in Japan. Not only do they deck out their phones with rhinestones but small plastic items in the shape of desserts. Yum? While it is a bit on the pricy side, you can actually go to your local arts and craft store and find things that are cheaper or get original pieces from Strappya (Japanese cell phone merchandise store).

There’s loads of ways your can decorate your phone even with rhinestones. Some people would just cover their phones in the same color but it’s gotten a little more advance than that. Now-a-days you can use patterns or even intricate designs like a fish or even your name.

Also thanks to this big décor boom, more and more items are being personalized like hand mirrors or hair brushes. A bit over the top but it’s still cute.

While there’s a million ways to go, I prefer rhinestones because at the end of the day it still has to fit in your hand. While the fatty in me says go for the cookies, my inner diva would rather glam it up then end up on the streets attempting to devour my phone.

Last night I was browsing around Clutch Magazine when I come across an interview with Kathryn Amberleigh. Apparently I’m not the only one absolutely drawn to her truly funky shoe collection, as Clutch writer Eboné Smiley puts it, “Whether you consider yourself edgy, chic, sophisticated or just plain confident enough to pull off any look, Kathryn Amberleigh has the shoe for you.” She sure does.

Rule #6 - Back to the Basics: My last rule (seriously!) is a reminder that basics are an underappreciated fashion weapon - versatile, cheap, and simple. Each piece is easy to find and gets a LOT of mileage. Who doesn’t like an easy hunt and a bigger bang for your buck?

A solid set of basics includes different colored camis, comfortable jeans (both dark and light), solid colored pumps, standard white button-up shirt, khakis, cardigans, and a classic little black dress. Basically anything that will go well with almost anything else, can be worn in a variety of different outfits, or is unlikely to go out of style. Why these kinds of clothes are cents-ible (hehe get it?) should be obvious.

Also when thinking about basics it might help to think about what kind of color palettes tend to dominate your wardrobe. Sometimes it’s good to pick clothes that will add diversity to your wardrobe, but there’s also something quiet fashionable about figuring out what colors and silhouettes look best on you and making selections that fit into that scheme. This way you will be more selective and everything you buy will likely match something else you already have so you don’t have to buy full sets.

So with that I’m out of ideas. Hope you guys enjoyed and happy shopping!

This week on Lipstick Jungle…

Victory is doing well with her business and now has the opportunity to have a steady cash flow by doing a tennis line. She needs Joe’s help since she doesn’t know anything about tennis but he’s avoiding her completely. She asks his assistant what’s up but as Helen and Nico talk to Joe, he brushes it off. At the party, he shows up late but Victory is relieved nonetheless until he proves to be no help during the pitch. She confronts him but then he throws the Rodrigo situation in her face. She is then speechless and found home drinking a bottle of wine until Joe’s assistant comes for a visit. She tells Victory that Joe was going to propose to her and asks her to be much nicer to him; however, Victory had no idea.

Meanwhile, Nico gets to meet Kirby’s mom, Tina. Talk about awkward, Nico freaked out about the entire situation until she actually met the woman who was basically a mirrored image of herself. Tina pretends to like Nico but her plans are much deeper than that. She doesn’t believe Nico is right for Kirby and that she’ll end up tossing him away. This puts Kirby in the middle as Nico blurts out for Kirby to move in. Kirby gets mad at both women and tells Nico he can’t move in if their relationship isn’t as solid as they think. As Nico tries to explain herself, she tells him I love you which he also returns.

Wendy is finally moving forward with her project as Shane gets signed with a really hot manager (female). This makes Wendy insecure and she ends up joining Shane on his film project. This causes tension between them and finally pushes Wendy to tell Shane that Dennis kissed her. Shane of course gets angry after a 2 week delay but they are able to mend the situation after Wendy admits she feels hopeless.

Fashion definitely has no limits especially now that they’ve started designing for outer space. What?

Asia Brief recently covered the latest fashion trends in space fashion. Apparently someone thought that you need to look good in space which I guess is reasonable. No not really. Since more and more average people are visiting the outer reaches of earth, being fashionable has become a must due to photo ops. Next thing you know we’ll have America’s Next Top Model in Space!

However, looking good is not all that there is to it. The clothes must also follow safety regulations such as being non-flammable.

While I always thought safety would come first above everything else, fashion seems to be not too far behind it. More »

Well if the answer is yes, kinda, or even no, I’m going to ask that you help Polyvore get nominated for an Open Web Award! The Open Web Awards recognizes websites that are in the top of their catagory, from fashion, entertainment, news and whatever else. There are 26 catagories in all, and as an avid Polyvore-er I’m excited at the opportunity to spread the word! Just think…if Polyvore won, they’d be right up there with previous winners like Youtube, Facebook and Flickr!

Rule #5 - Outlet Shopping: Every time I go home to Long Island for a vacation I treat myself to a day-long shopping trip at Tanger Outlets. The nearest one is a solid 45 minute drive from my home, but so utterly worth it!

The beauty of outlets like the Riverhead Tanger (two huge malls each with at least 50 different brand-name stores) is that besides consolidating all the shopping you ever need to do in one location, for the most part prices are guaranteed lower than at your standard mall or street-side storefront.

It may seem that doing these kinds of day-long marathon shopping trips requires putting away the browse-don’t-binge rule for a bit, but I find that if you return in regular increments of time you take the frequent browser mentality with you - sometimes you’re lucky and sometimes you aren’t, but it’s not a waste either way because you’ll be lucky sooner or later. Hot beverages and I never really meshed well together. I think I suffer from heat-sensitive skin, mouth, and tongue. Therefore, I never like to eat hot stuff, always preferring it to be cooler, especially during the summer where I love iced drinks. However, in the last couple of years, I discovered that a hot cup of tea during the colder months is really a great thing. Either that or I really was a Brit in my past life, or all that Harry Potter stuff influenced me into being more British than ever.

Regardless, I started to drink more tea, and I love it. Especially when I have some milk and sugar in mine. Now granted, they may reduce the tea’s anti-oxidant effect, but having a proper cup of tea in that sense is just really good for the soul. Or at least good for mine. I started to try out different flavours of teas, and here are the ones I discovered that rock my socks when I have a cuppa of these different teas. More »

What is it with stylists NOT knowing how to style!? Seriously, it seems like all of the award shows are just train wreck central. I recently went slack-jawed over Katy Perry’s …I don’t know what to call it, and NOW I’ve come across some pics of Beyonce’s outfit (shudders) and Lil’ Mama’s get up (po’ thang), not to mention Raven Symone’s green potato sack. I’m pretty sure they themselves would NEVER have co-signed these outfits if it weren’t for the hordes of yes men and women out to secretly ruin them. More »

Sometimes you just find the weirdest things on the web. As I was checking my email today, a headline caught my eye. “How To Make Lasagna In Your Dishwasher”.

Yep - it is what you think it is. Someone has managed to figure out how to make lasagna in their dishwasher

What?! Say it isn’t so. My cheesy, gooey meal can be made alongside the same dishes that are reeked with old food? Eww. Gross. Yet….so tantalizing. I may try this out one day, but I probably won’t.

Would you?

The underwear model has recently starred in a Guitar Hero commercial that’s identical to the previous one with Kobe, Michael, Tony and Alex.

Like a true VS model, she flaunted her stuff in a sexy, black bra and panty set while jamming to Bob Seger – Old Time Rock and Roll. And boy did she shake it. Honestly I thought she did a better job than the 4 boys and that’s no credit to her nekkidness. While she was more appealing in practically nothing, the official commercial has her covered up in a pink dress shirt. Aw too bad. More »
