Well, honestly, for me, personally, 2008 sucked it big time for various reasons. I’ll try to be positive here, but I make no promises. Read on for my list of the Best and the Worst 2008 had to offer.

Best of 2008

1) Bandage is Back- thank you Alaia and Herve Leger If you love “Clueless” like I do, you’ll know that Cher wears an Alaia when she is robbed at gunpoint and forced to ruin her dress. Yes, Alaia, is the 1980’s and 90’s designer famous for skin tight bandage dresses. It seems every designer paid homage to Alaia and Herve Leger on the Spring 2009 runways. My favorite was Narcisco Rodriguez Spring 2009 sexy bandage inspired designs. They are simply amazing and so sexy. More »

I usually don’t make New Year’s Resolutions, but I guess I’ll think of some for the coming year. So here’s my list of what I probably won’t end up doing in 2009, but definitely should.

1) Exercise! So, I’ve been a lazy pile for way to loooong. I was a gymnast for 15 years, so I always say that that means I never have to exercise again. Of course, that was 10 years ago, and I can’t even do the splits anymore, which is sad. My other excuse it that I walk alot running around the city and I go up and down the subways stairs and carry heavy stuff alot. These are poor excuses, so I swear this year I’ll get my six pack back! well, we’ll see. More »

We’re nearing the final days of 2008. It’s been such a long (stressful) year but there have been some good things that came out of it. Although I wish we were still in 2007 (my Senior year of HS), I’m happy to be moving forward.

But before we do, let’s recap on the best of 2008! Of course it’s all my personal opinion. More »

Following Lan’s suit, I’ll share my New Year’s Resolution in hopes putting it in writing will make me more inclined to stick to it.

I only have one because I’ve discovered in years past that having multiple new year’s resolutions is a recipe for not getting any of them accomplished since I lack willpower like woah =/

And actually in the spirit of that sentiment, my new year’s resolution is: More »

So after a week back in the good old American Heartland, I’m finally back in the Big Apple. However, after over 5 years of living in NYC, I almost miss the Midwest. I thought it was impossible, but no, it’s true. While, I still won’t ever want to live in Iowa again, I miss all the good stuff Iowa has to offer. Here is a list of Iowa’s good attributes: More »

Well, the year is pretty much over and it’s time to say “Hello” to 2009 and “Goodbye” to ‘08. It’s also a time to reflect on the past events of the year. It was a cool year in my opinion, I mean, we’ve elected our first ever “Black” president, Sen. Barack Obama and we all went green in an 11th hour attempt to save our planet. Also this year in La La Land (aka Hollywood), Britney didn’t overdose on her own celebrity. WOOT!

It’s  been a great year for music and fashion…aside from the gossip and train wrecks (Hi Amy!).The two always gone hand in hand, so it’s no surprise that there’s been some really awesome creativity going on and you know wouldn’t be a proper entertainment year-end rundown without mentioning Rihanna, who had her shine in both!

2009 is coming up and I’m NOT looking forward to it. I realized the other day that I will be turning 20 soon (February). I felt incredibly old and unfulfilled all of a sudden. So I figured it was about time I set some goals for myself for the New Year. More »

Santa appropriately didn’t bring me anything this year since I’ve been naughty and not keeping up with my fab faves on regular schedule =/ But that’s why New Year’s is right around the bend - so we can reform and start anew!

Unfortunately life has been terrifically boring as of late given that the flurry of finals devolved rapidly into a flurry of sleeping in late and pigging out on Christmas cookies. I’m sure many of you school gals can sympathize with my favorite activities of Winter Break:

1) Skiing: Actually this year I chose not to go skiing because I’ve got lots of random things to attend to and so there isn’t really time, but I usually really look forward to getting all my ski gear out and driving up to Vermont, New Hampshire, or upstate New York with my dad. There is nothing like a really crazy new black diamond trail to get the blood pumping and the oxygen filling the lungs. Or create great excuses for fun snow gear (I have a matching hello kitty scarf and hat set, no joke xD). More »

If your eyes are anything like mine (puffy, dark circles and bags), then you must be dying for a fix. I’ve used a few products in the past but none have really done the trick and home remedies aren’t really helping me either. I swear I’m cursed. However, now there’s a solution (maybe).

Garnier Nutrioniste has released their Skin Renew that is an anti-puff eye roller. It’s basically roller that has a caffeine gel formula that you massage onto your eyes and it deflates the puffiness, diminishes dark circles and makes your eyes look brighter. Sounds too good to be true but infamous Taiwanese blogger Xiaxue has used the product and seems to swear by it.

Haven’t gotten a chance to try it out myself but I’m dying to get my hands on a bottle.

One of my friends is getting a new pet for Christmas and when she told us what it was, no one had any clue what the hell she was talking about. Apparently she’s getting a baby “sugar glider,” which after a few attempts at describing we deduced was a flying koala chipmunk. Not like that really clears up the confusion.

So a quick google image search revealed that a flying koala chipmunk is pretty much as good of a description as it gets. Admittedly, it’s adorable (especially the babies - they’re TINY).

Apparently sugar gliders are tiny marsupials that come from Australia. They’ve been around the U.S. for about 20 years as companion pets, and in high numbers too! Ever trustworthy Wikipedia puts the numbers at 1.1 million domestic sugar gliders in 2007, which is approximately the same number of hamsters and guinea pigs owned by American families that year. I’ve owned hamsters myself and I’ve had friends who owned guinea pigs, but I have NEVER heard of a sugar glider until now. I wonder why that is.

More fun facts: They’re “lively and inquisitive nature” who get along with humans if given “plenty of attention (a minimum of 1-2 hours of daily human interaction).” So basically smaller and less slobbery than dogs but more interactive than a cat for anyone thinking about late Christmas gifts ;)

For my last 2008 “Fab Faves” entry, I’m going to end with a list of my reflections this year. Despite my health going kaput this year, I’m amazed by how much had happened in a single year! I hope you all had a great year! I’m looking forward to 2009 and hope it will be better than 2008!

Girl Gamer: Expanded my game selections for the DS. In fact, the DS is the only system I played on all year long! I even played games I never would have thought to play! (ie: Princess Debut)

Proud Nerd: Discovered that I graduated cum laude with a 3.85 gpa from my uni, to which my mother heard me say it as “cula” and “goon goh goo ma” (sweet potato in Korean). More »

Ellen DeGeneres and Britney Spears spent their holiday season by caroling and decorated people’s houses. Not only did they completely embarrass themselves but Ellen actually managed to out gangster Britney with her rapping skills and vandalism ways. “It’s Ellen bitch!” I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard. With the New Year coming up right around the corner, some of you may be looking for something to do, other than trying to get into some mega expensive party thrown by your favorite radio station. Or maybe you’re new to The City and you wanna know where all the cool places to hang out are, and meet some really cool people. OOOR you’re just a club/culture/museum/arts/music/insert fun thing here junkie. Well no problem!

Contrary to the color forcast for 2009 being yellow, I think I’ve found my own “color of the year.” Seriously, I believe I’m verging on obsession with this color…thanks to Polyvore (don’t act like you weren’t expecting it). Anywho, the color I’m really feeling for next year is teal, however, I’m also in love with coral and various shades of purple. Why? Honestly, I don’t know. It could be because “blue” has been the color that I’ve gravitated towards since forever, so rolling with teal isn’t that far of a stretch.

Hope you enjoyed your Christmas. Over at my house, we didn’t really do much but the day wasn’t spent in vain. I actually got a little holiday cheer despite not doing the whole tree/gift giving thing. More »
