Even though I live in the best shopping city in the world, NYC, I still love shopping online. Although I do like to shop online at mass retailers like Target.com (since everything is out of stock at the Target in Brooklyn) and Steve Madden.com (cause it’s the only place that carries 5 1/2 size shoes), indie e-boutiques are the best place to find unique items from emerging designers from across the world. So here is a list of my favorite indie e-boutiques. Of course, I sell my clothing line at all of these sites, so I’m bias. More »
Another crazy post from AmpedAsia about relationships specifically why Asian girls like White guys aka Yellow Fever. Note that this is not meant to be offensive.
Supposedly, there are a lot more Asian girl White guy couples than vise versa. Why? No idea but AmpedAsia explores this phenomenon:
Western Concept of Beauty – being brainwashed by the media tells you what you like which is apparently White guys. More »
As we all know, Rihanna for the most part has had the best fashion stylist this whole year. Aside from a very few small instances where her outfits were questionable, the girl has been impeccably dressed from head to toe. Many people are saying her style is edgy, punk-ish, or funky (the good kind) and I guess you could say that, because ever since she cut her hair, she has been pushing the envelope for what is considered stylish dress for ladies within the R&B/Hip Hop and Pop communities. Since I’m also spending my birthday drowning in paper writing and finals studying, I’ll make this brief. These are my five favorite things about birthdays:
1) Your day: Everyone’s got a selfish/narcisstic streak, msyelf included, so you have to admit that having a holiday that’s YOUR holiday where people wish YOU happy birthday and no one else (or very few others.. I share my birthday with 5 others but that’s on the high side), is kind of awesome.
2) Good wishes: In the era of Facebook and other automated birthday reminders, it’s hard to say who’s wishing you happy birthday because they genuinely remembered and cared, but the perk is that there is overall a greater outpouring of good wishes. Everyone could use an annual reminder that they are thought of!
3) Reflecting: This is one of many annual markers where I sit back and think about what I was up to a year ago this time and how I’ve changed since then. This one warrants an even bigger reflection because I’m officially at the two decade mark, so it’s interesting to think how I’ve changed in the last 10 years, not just 1 year. More »
Brenda Song is one of the few Asian Americans in the US Entertainment industry that knows how to dress. Yes I’m talking about Bai Ling.
In this video, Brenda gives viewers a tour of her Disney TV series “The Suite Life” closet. If you didn’t know she plays a very self absorbed, fashion conscious rich girl named London. So yeah there’s going to be a lot of neat clothes (but her pink sequin outfit isn’t one of them). She’s definitely got taste and I find myself seemingly jealous of her. However, I definitely wouldn’t want my mom buying my diamond studded hooker heels. More »
As a former concert band saxophonist, an on-and-off pianist, a pseudo-arranger, a wannabe conductor, and a former substitute teacher/teacher’s aide for the band teacher, it’s safe to presume that I like music. In fact, after performing in five holiday concerts and attending eleven of them, holiday music are an addiction for me. Therefore, for this week’s “fab faves”, here’s a list of ten holiday songs I like. Keep in mind, I probably have over 50, but to spare you all, here’s only ten. More »
Ahhh! This is probably the best episode so far this season. I was literally screaming (with joy) at the TV as I watched.
Things are finally looking up for Victory as she lands a huge deal for her line. While discussing ad details that involve a nude woman on a bed, she finds out that she will be that nude woman. She, of course, is shocked at the idea because she’s a bit prude; however, with some encouragement from Kirby (who was hired to be the photographer because he’s a friendly face), she manages to pull it off. This gives her the courage to confront Joe that she’s sorry, thankful and would have said yes. This ends with a happy story (hint hint, wink wink). The next day she tells Nico and Wendy she’s going to propose to him. More »
The song is about Mario Kart and love (great match imo). If you listen to the lyrics, you’ll find yourself laughing and in awe as he makes various memorable references to the game. It’s a really sweet song that could easily pass for a John Mayor hit. The guitarist even dressed up as what looks like Luigi for the video.
Whoever his girlfriend is, is one lucky girl. More »

A few days ago I stumbled upon this article/video on Yahoo! Shine about women who were asked what they would tell their teenaged selves about beauty, were they able to go back in time and I instantly thought of several movies that have addressed this oft dreamt about scenario. My favorite being an awesome chick flick from South Korea called 언니가간다 or Project Makover aka Go Go Sister! . In it a young woman at the age of 30 travels back in time to her adolescence and gets the oportunity to give advice to herself. It’s a really great movie, and I totally recommend it to everyone (guys included). More »
Inspired by Tiffany, I decided to do my favorite features.
I’m not conceited; I’m just trying to inspire other girls to find something they love about themselves. Every girl should be happy with the cards they’ve been dealt. “Work with what your mama gave ya.” You shouldn’t fight who you are. And if something does make you unhappy for whatever reason, do something about it. More »

I’ve never been a fan of Hilary Duff and I’m still not.
Although she has exceptional style, she should really give up on her music career. This is her latest single from her Best of Hilary album. She should reconsider the name. I’ll admit though she does have a few (very few) good songs but her break away from her Disney hasn’t been that successful.
If anything, her outfits are super cute in the video but she can’t run with the big girls. /Cough Paris Hilton. More »
With the release of her album, also came the music video. Circus is probably my favorite track so I was psyche to see what they came out with. Unfortunately, I was disappointed.
It looked more like a really long commercial than anything else. I don’t see why she had to take forever and a day to put on some Bvlgari jewelry. Also the choreography wasn’t up to par with her usual music videos. It was pretty boring and if it weren’t for the cool sparkling waterfall that we only see for a few seconds, I would can this all together.
At least the song is still good. More »
Sorry for not posting more often, the last week has been absolutely crazy for me because I’ve been silly enough to think that planning a fashion show at the end of the semester wouldn’t be such a big deal. Let’s just say that after this, I have incredible newfound respect for what I saw at NYC Fashion Week.
My term as APA Heritage Chair for the Asian American Students Alliance at Yale is ending, so I wanted to do a final event that would be fun, interesting, culturally-relevant, and totally girly. Why not a Pan-Asian Fashion Show? And to make it a little more interesting, I planned on working with student designers on campus to redesign some of the clothing so that we would have both traditional and “modernized” pieces on the catwalk.
Conceptually what could possibly be so hard about a fashion show - people strut around for 10 min or so and that’s it. But there are SO many elements to it that you never really think about until you actually try to put one together - lighting, music, fitting, runway training, photographers, programs, volunteers, publicity, vip guests, the list is endless. Even things like the name took forever (we originally wanted “Fusion” but there’s already an event on campus, so we decided to give a nod to French haute couture and call it “Melange“). More »
Yeah, I already did a “fab faves” type post talking about guys, but that was pretty much about their looks. As we all know, there’s more to it that just looking hot. This time I wanna talk about the things that guys do that I heart. It’s one thing just to sit and stare at a hottie, but interacting with the opposite sex is even more fun. Especially when they know how to flirt…but not in that skeevy “I’m doing this to get in your pants and then you’ll never hear from me again” way….ew. O_O Not cool. If it’s a sincere flirt, even if it leads to nothing, it can be awesome fun. Check out the things guys do that make me (and I’m sure a few others) all giddy:
My “fab faves” image has a Nintendo DS with bunnies on the screen. My fascination for bunnies stems from the fact that I own a grey-coloured, female bunny named Grumpy. She’s my baby, and she might as well be a dog considering the way she likes to beg and wants to be petted like one. The only characteristic she lacks is that she doesn’t know her name so calling her to come is pointless. But fear not, she’s cute and makes up for it by being the cutest thing when begging for more of her favourite treats. Here’s a video to prove so; a video captured by my digital camera, and a video that’s been edited on Windows Movie Maker. More »
I Love Rock ‘n Roll, just like Ms. Joan Jett. I’m amazing on air guitar and I can wiggle my jello with the best of them. That being said, I thought I’d share my top 5 favorite new albums of 2008. So go buy these albums now, if you don’t already have them, and crank them up loud. Then memorize all the lyrics and guitar solos and jam away, until your roommate tells you to shut it, and then you can tell her that she’s just jealous of your musical and dancing skills! More »
No nothing scandalous, but if you’ve been keeping up with the pop princess and the bi-sexual diva Tila Tequila, you’ll know that they’ve made a recent debut.
Tila Tequila wrote a book about her life called “Hooking Up with Tila Tequila”. I’m honestly not that interested in reading it since most of her life is on Myspace anyways but she promises that it’s very personal and revealing, which I’m assuming she means in a not so stripper way. She’s kept us entertained in the past but can she do it on paper?
Brittney on the other hand has finally released her Circus album. I’m pretty excited for this since I’ve listened to it on Imeem. The album seems very promising, let’s just hope that she keep this pace up. Also if you order anything off of the Britney Spears official website, you’ll get a bottle of Believe. It’s her best perfume imo and I’m a bit tempted to go for it. More »
So the other day I read a post on a celebrity oriented forum in which one member felt that superstars have “some sort of deep seated insecurity” based on the fact that in order for them to get to where they are, and why they do/did it is some how strange. As the poster put it, “That kind of drive is abnormal.” Now I’m sure you’ve heard this same sentiment before, and you’ve probably joked with your friends about it. But if you really think about it…really think about the entertainers and artists who are on top of their game, is it true? Are they somehow abnormal for wanting to become super popular, super rich, super…super?
