Last week I highlighted my fave Rocker Chicks, so this week I thought I’d show some love for my fave not-as-commercial Indie Rocker Chicks. These chicks garner a cult-like following in the indie music scene, so if you haven’t heard of them by now, for the love of music go buy their albums now!

1) Polly Jean Harvey a.k.a. PJ Harvey- an amazingly creative ground breaking artist. Fave Songs: “The River” and “Down by the Water”

Cat Power

Cat Power

2) Chan Marshall a.k.a. Cat Power- with one of the most cathartic voices to grace the indie music world. Fave Songs: “The Greatest” and “Good Woman”

3) Karen O. of The Yeah Yeah Yeahs- crazy dressed screaming garage glam
Fave Songs: “Maps” and “Rich”

4) Liz Phair (Pre-selling out version)- Exile in Guyville was Liz Phair’s break-out indie record of the mid-90’s. She’s exiled from indie-ville since then, but I’ll always love her first indie record best, which was re-issued last year. Fave Songs: “F*** and Run” and “Canary” and “Polyester Bride”

5) Fiona Apple- not so much rock ‘n roll as just amazing. You can’t classify this genius. Fave Songs: “Paper Bag” and “Across the Universe” (The Beatles cover) and “I Want You” (Elvis Costello cover)
