You girls are probably all thinking this is a guy’s game but in reality, every girl I’ve talked to who plays has enjoyed the game or became addicted (one of my girlfriends became so addicted that she ended up with carpal tunnel). So don’t be so quick to judge. I know it’s not made for everyone, but it is fun! I have to admit I didn’t like it at first but now I’m always searching for time to play.
Anyways finally getting to Wrath of the Lich King, my initial impressions are good ones. I’m not playing a Death Knight which a new class introduced through (WoLK). It’s definitely not for newbs (especially if you don’t already have a 55) so I had a bit of a hard time getting use to it. The story behind the DK is really interesting and you get to do all sorts of awesome stuff. You can read more about that here.
Moving along to the storyline of the game, its as you expected: some crazy over lord is back to take over Northrend (a new area in Azeroth) but you’re not about to let that happen. You basically go through the each area learning more about the storyline while helping out different camps/cities with their issues.
Nothing new right? Wrong! While you are still doing the annoying “kill 10 of this and that” quests, you also get to do some cool things like pose as a murloc and catch a dragon. They’ve definitely stepped up their game in this expansion and I have to say so far I’m impressed.
I’m still not entirely done but I have to say I can’t wait to get to the end. It’s like watching the Twilight only you’re in it and everything is ten times bloodier and a million times less cheesy.
In Short
The Good:
Scenery/Wild Life – I don’t know if this is just me but WoLK is much prettier. Though you end up killing some of the wild life (/cry), you easily forget it thanks to respawn.
Quests – While you still have the annoying quests, you get to do a bunch of awesome stuff too. In addition, you’re able to start from two different areas allowing more diversity and exp.
Death Knights – Talk about bad ass. Their back story is not only unique but actually playing one is even better. Why be the Princess when you can be your own hero?
Leveling – I don’t know if this is a good thing or not but leveling is definitely a lot easier now than it was in Burning Crusade.
The Bad:
Flying Mounts – Even though you get a free riding mount with a DK, you still can’t fly any where till level 77. It’s a pain in the arse!
Level 55 – For those of you just starting, you can’t make a Death Knight until you make a character that is level 55. It’s definitely a bummer but worth the work.
