Hey you. Yeah, you. I see you, putting away that box labelled “RIP Summer Clothes” Please put that box down, and listen up. I’ve got money-saving tips on how to convert a Summer sundress into a staple of your Fall wardrobe:
1. Instead of splurging on an entire Fall/Winter wardrobe, it’s more cost efficient to spend your money on the basics for layering. By basics, I mean t-shirts, cardigans, and leggings. For basics, I like to shop at Forever 21, H&M, Old Navy and Target. You’ll be surprised with what $20 can get you.
2. To apply the fundamentals of layering with basics, layer your summer frock over a t-shirt and leggings. Don’t forget that cardigan, too. Voila! Your summer dress is now a fall jumper and you didn’t spend much on it.
3. Make sure to properly color coordinate your basics with your dress. If you’ve got a light-colored summer dress, your basics should be dark colors. If it’s a floral print with some dark shades, bring those shades out with basics that complement those dark shades.
4. Accessorize. Just like basics, accessories shouldn’t be overlooked, especially in this economy. The accessory is a relatively cheaper way to update a wardrobe without having to spend a lot. In this case, a good scarf, beret or long necklaces add the element of fall to your summer sundress that you’ve just turned into a fall jumper.
