Under-aged, health conscious ladies, I have heard your pleas. This week’s edition of Thirsty Thursday features the easiest Fall season-appropriate nonalcoholic cocktail drink you can make called the Syrian Blossom. Naturally, I picked it because pomegranates are rich in antioxidants and super beneficial for women’s health. And it’s pink, duh. More »

Life, why are you so hard sometimes? The chief of my morning was spent scouring every Internet corner for a cute boy with donuts. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate every hour, minute, second, nanosecond, giga second of work. It’s the daily torture that makes things hard: I’m not always eating donuts or cupcakes. Sad, but true. As a health nut with a waivering heart, I purposely make sources scarce. Now that South Korean actor Lee Min Ho is narrowed down as the Cute Boy of the Week, I’ve got a new problem. More »

Agyness Deyn’s (pronounced: Ag-ness Dain) modeling career and style thus far has been a complete testament to the love that I have for the girly slash classy punk aesthetic. According to the New York Post, she’s also hailed as the fashion industry’s next great super model. How could I not feature her as the GirlyBubble Cute Girl of the Week? More »

First, it was the meringue rings, the Mister Donut Pon De Lion figurines and then the toy octopuses and now…well now, I have something for you that you can actually eat. That’s right folks, I don’t actually have a penchant for cute inedible things that resemble food. But on that same token, would you eat these cupcakes even if they’re real? Sure, some of them are smiling and winking at you beckoning you to take a bite, but would you do it? More »

Irony ranks high on The List of Things I Cherish Most in Life. I got this memo the other day that Japan has actually read my list and made Halloween “Hangry and Angry” toys just the way I like it. What’s more ironic than plush cats that allow the bloody contents of their body to spill out when suspended in the air, unzipped? Nothing. More »

Finally, there’s a Halloween costume for the pets of sadistic pet-owners. I’m not sure what this cute chihuahua did to deserve this cruel and unusual punishment, but I sure love it! Fortunately for sane pet-owners around the world, I don’t own a pet. Although, even if I did, I’m not sure I’d splurge on this Hello Kitty Halloween costume for pets. This costume is worth a pretty penny! More »

Korean flash game Magic Castle is pretty much the worst thing that has happened to me all week. I worked really hard to get the Bejeweled game addiction out of my system, and now it’s back in my life — only WAY cuter and in Korean. The rules of the game are pretty much the same. Instead of boring ol’ jewels you get cuter items like cupcakes (do we see a theme here?), hearts and cute animals. There goes any ideas of me being productive this week. More »

The other day I had my heart broken by recent discovery of donuts being completely high in trans fats. (Why didn’t anyone tell me?!) Instead of falling into a state of donut depression, I toughened up and channeled my inner Pon De Lion for fierceness. Instead of drowning my sorrows in a box of…donuts, I did what any other recovering donut addict would do — find more Pon De Lion commercials and toys. More »

If those meringue rings weren’t enough, wait until you get a load of Cherry Red Boutique’s cupcake jewelry. Just one look at these babies might put you at risk for type II diabetes. Even better, Cherry Red doesn’t sell much over $11. Be forewarned, you can’t actually eat or keep any of this jewelry as pets. More »

As if there aren’t enough signs in the world telling me that life isn’t fair, I come across these Japanese fashion magazine scans of women fabulously rocking a hairstyle most women would wear on their ‘day off.’ Odango is Japanese for dumpling — if you can think of a ‘dumpling hair concept,’ you can easily visualize it as just being a messy bun on top of your head. And it’s painfully easy to do: More »

While technically I grew up with the MTV generation, I didn’t have access to cable TV. My family couldn’t afford it and the Internet wasn’t around in my childhood (Thank, God!). It was all about my imagination, colored street chalk and pop-up books checked out from the library. LA-based pop-surrealist artist Seonna Hong’s artwork for Sara Lov’s new “Fountains” music video combines the best of my childhood: Cute flowers, child-like imagination, hide-and-seek — pop-up book style. Apparently, I didn’t receive the memo on this Fall season taking a turn for dark colors and deeper textures. Not that a memo is necessary, I’m well aware that fashion gets darker every Fall. Frankly, I just like what I like, and for now I am digging messy bows, out-of-place lace, random florals and over-sized accessories. Think garden tea party meets punk. Or to be more specific, think Peter Som Spring/Summer 2010, Luella and Jimmy Backius’ fashion editorial photography. More »

If you’re reading this, chances are, you love shoes. Maybe, almost more than life itself. Sometimes, shoes just don’t reciprocate the same passionate feelings you have. And if they’re of the high-heel variety, they reciprocate their feelings for you in ways you don’t deserve: Blisters, bunions, corns, calluses, hammertoe…beauty is pain, right? Not all the time. Here’s a simple guide to help avoiding high-heel pain: More »

Here’s an event I’d have to be sitting for/not operating heavy machinery during: The Hello Kitty “Three Apples” exhibition opening Oct. 23 at Royal/T in LA. As an exhibition held in honor of of Hello Kitty’s 35th anniversary, my inability to effectively handle cute-overload could be problematic. That’s 35 years of Hello Kitty cute-ness! I can barely handle myself being so cute, and I’m only 24. More »

Let’s face it, Autumn. There is nothing pretty about bobbing for apples. There, I said it. But really, Autumn, bobbing for apples? After I’ve spent a sizable amount of time and thought into looking cute for Halloween? Don’t even get me started on the whole lawn situation, what with your fallen golden leaves that I have to clean up. Ugh, do I really have to scoop out pumpkin seeds from the pumpkin before I carve it? For being such a beautiful season, you are a piece of work. I think I need a drink. One that reminds me of the beautiful side of Autumn before I forget. A girly drink recipe for Dusk in Eden, perhaps? More »

After reading Jinra talk about pretty boy Ed Westwick, I just had to rebuke with fellow Gossip Girl cast member Chace Crawford. He’s this week’s cute boy because of his genuinely blue eyes, cheeky smile, eye-catching style and gorgeous bed hair. N.B. Ed Westwick doesn’t stand a chance against my Chace. (I’m expecting to get a beating from Jinra anytime soon.) More »

You may know Alexa Chung as the British talk show host of MTV’s “It’s On with Alexa Chung,” but for me, she’s this week’s pick for Cute Girl of the Week. I’m sure you saw this coming, what with the way I got excited over a picture of her licking a Chanel bag. Aside from that, I consider Alexa Chung one of my personal style icons. I also have a serious girl-boner for her. And the British, while you’re at it. Did I mention she’s British? And half Chinese? For both here and across the pond, there’s no denying this about Alexa Chung: She’s got style for days with a fun, vivacious personality to match! More »

Ironically, one of my most beloved fashion editorials is beloved not for fashion, but for the desserts featured. The dessert gives the entire Vogue Girl Korea March ‘07 fashion editorial that element of fantasy. Who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by cute cakes and candies and not gain a pound? Put me in this editorial and it’d be more nightmare than fantasy. More »

Weirdest food I’ve ever had but ended up liking? Live octopus on several occasions in Korea. Live, as in, *I could still feel the tentacles wiggling in my mouth as I was chewing–mmm! Octopus in the form of $2 vinyl toys (absolute steal!) called Takochu on the other hand, aren’t meant for eating. More »

Like any person born after 1963, I am severely excited for the release of Spike Jonze’ Where the Wild Things Are this Friday. Not a lot of people know this, but the movie has been in development for years due to production problems. Originally, they wanted to cast a girl to play the role of Maxine instead of Max. According to this unreleased promo poster, things didn’t work out. More »
