Every mood I’ve ever experienced in the entire history of me being me, has had at least a song or five dedicated to it. The most important mood that calls for music in my life is the, “GOTTA GET FIERCE!” mood — GGF if you will. GGF is the mood you experience when you wake up feeling like one sexy mama jama. On that particular morning that you wake up, your hair does exactly what you want it too. Your butt, you’ve decided isn’t so bad and you suspect a certain twinkle in your eye for no reason. You’ve also got a hot date that night, to top it off. That is GGF. The following songs are all about GGF and are my picks for the Top 5 girl anthems to beauty.
1. Michael Jackson - Pretty Young Thing.
Are you surprised that this song also happens to be one of my favorite songs, like, ever? Sometimes I like to think that this song was written about me.
2. Christina Aguilera - Beautiful
It’d be something of a crime to not include this song as one of the top girl anthems to beauty. Remember, we are beautiful no matter what they say.
3. Beyonce - Diva
Look up “fierce” in the dictionary and you’ll find a picture of Beyonce. Or me getting ready for the day.
4. The Pussycat Dolls - Don’t Cha
I’d be lying if I said there hasn’t been a day where I’ve pretended I was a Pussycat Doll. In my underwear. Behind close doors, obviously.
5. Carl Carlton - She’s a Bad Mama Jama
Did you see this coming? I hope so.
Honorable Mention
Jill Sobule - Supermodel
Note: This isn’t the official music video — just the only music video I could find. This song is slightly old as it’s from the Clueless soundtrack. What I love about this song is that it’s somewhat of a criticism on society’s beauty standards for being thin…but
