I was going through my old blog when I came upon a particularly not-so-cute-angry-little-girl post I had furiously typed up coming home one rainy day:

“Last Tuesday some moron who thought he was late for class charged through this unavoidable ocean of a puddle I was carefully trying to tread across to reach my building. Maybe he thought that if he ran fast enough, he’d be able skim the water. Inevitably, his little endeavor caused tidal waves, which left us both soaked up to our knees and dragged down by our jeans.

The next boy who does that will have my umbrella shoved all the way up his ass, then opened.”

So! That brings me to umbrellas. I used to just like umbrellas, but now I love them, for I’ve come to appreciate their various uses. They can be used as an instrument of pain, a means of physical support, an extension to reach things, and most importantly, act as an effective barrier between you and everyone else during a rainy day– similar to the purposes of women’s hoop skirts/crinolines developed in the 1850s, which apart from fashion, were worn to keep men at bay.

Anyways, here are some umbrellas that caught my eye.

Flower Umbrellas at BeyondGifts. [Daisy, Sunflower, Gerber Daisy]

Van Gogh Art Umbrellas at ArtistGifts. ["Starry Night" & "Cafe Terrace]

And lastly, the Strawberry Umbrella, which you can supposedly find at MotherGarden–alas, I cannot read Japanese so I’m unable to navigate the site. Hopefully you guys can.
