In a worldwide web of celebrity gossip blogs, wikis, social networking, and viral videos, it is always nice to take a break from all of it and indulge in something sweet and cute. No, I’m not talking about cheating on your diet by eating chocolate or spending the extra money you have at your local Sanrio store. I’m talking about those websites that cater to the inner child, girly girl, and kawaii junkie in all of us like the ones I chose for my Top 10 list.

1. Whoever said taking pictures of toys is stupid doesn’t know how much hardwork and imagination goes into it. This is why I appreciate Inhae Lee’s photo stories via My Milk Toof.

2. The artwork of Helen Dardik is happy and reminds me of storybook illustrations from my childhood. She not only illustrates, but makes adorable toys too! No wonder she calls her site One Lucky Helen! And check out her blog for regular updates on her projects.

3. Forget those paperdolls from your childhood! At Poupee Girls, you can create a virtual avatar of yourself and dress it up in stylish clothes which you buy with ribbons (form of currency on the site). This site can be quite addicting!

4. With a name like OMGPOP and addicting games that you can waste your time with, this gaming site has a sense of humor that makes it adorable to me. The opening page to the game Putt Putt Peguin! declares that “PENGUINS R SO DUMB. LOLZ.”

5. Zombies seem to be all the rage now along with vampires and werewolves, but they rarely come in any sort of cute form. However, little Miss Appley Rotten changes everything! Catch her weekly online comic every Tuesday.

6. There is a lot of fun and boldness in the graphic designs of Paul Jamie Kidd aka Kidd81. You can either take a look at his portfolio, or make your way to his online shop. My favorite item is the My Hangover Hoody.

7. Meomi is an illustration and design duo who has worked in many mediums. They are known for their cute woodland animals. There are downloadable desktop wallpapers and pixel avatars on their website. If you check out their online shop, you can purchase an assortment of items from books, journals, or clothing with their whimsical designs on them.

8. Baking fanatic, or a novice looking to experiment with new recipes? CakeSpy is the place to go for the latest news in things related to baking and pastries.

9. Uglydolls have been around for a long time, but I still can’t get enough of them! They are far from ugly, but super cute! My personal favorite? Babo, of course! I always make sure I hide the cookies when he’s around.

10. What should I do when I’m bored? Maybe go shopping on Bored, Inc. where “it’s cute to be Bored.”
