I discovered Jennifer of Violet Pie on Flickr through our mutual love for Blythe dolls. Her work has always amazed me due to the details she puts into each piece. Both dolls and humans alike enjoy the whimsy of her creations, which range from tiny bears made from mohair to custom miniature Blythe dolls made for 12″ Blythe dolls. Some of her pieces look like they were inspired by the strange animals artist Mark Ryden paints–a little bit creepy, but cute with their glossy eyes and enigmatic, mischievous smiles.
Jennifer revealed her most recent creation on her blog. Chloe the Pink Bun has one of those creepy, but cute faces with a wily expression. The toy’s body is made from pink string mohair, ears are lined with ivory satin, and face is felted wool. And those eyes? They are taxidermy eyes, all to stare at you with! As stated at her Etsy store, her toys are collectible items and not meant for children under 12. I’m not sure if or when Chloe the Pink Bun will be available for purchase, but if you’re interested in Violet Pie originals, I’m sure you’ll find one of her other designs to suit the needs of your inner child.
