I had the most unpleasant shopping experience the other day when I was at So Good Jewelry in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district with my boyfriend. I checked them out on Yelp and apparently, they’re very notorious for their absolute lack of customer service. So this is what I have to say to them:
Dear So Good Jewelry [well specifically, extremely unpleasant, rude old man],
If you think I am here to steal your cheap merchandise, I assure you that I am a more ambitious person than that. Your behavior, which closely resembled stalking, was very alarming and if I wasn’t aware that you were an employee, I would have called the police. If you are so concerned about thievery, rather than hiring your staff to personally harass each and every customer who walks in, I suggest putting all your sterling silver and plastic behind a glass case.
The store itself wouldn’t have been such a miserable place if it weren’t for the staff. There’s so much merchandise that you could probably spend your entire afternoon there browsing the walls and tables covered with jewelry from Korea. If you’re intrigued, I suggest going to the So Good Jewelry shop on Powell instead, where people are treated as potential customers rather than criminals.
FashionJewelryTv is a great online store to go to if you’re looking for cute jewelry from Korea (their goods are a lot less expensive then the ones sold in So Good Jewelry as well). Most of their earrings are $3-$5.
Lesson at the end of the day? It pays to be nice to people.
