There was this one time I had a band-aid on my arm while I was walking around in LA. When I peeled it off later that day, I had an embarrassing patch of pale white skin where it used to be– that, my friends, would be what you would call a “tantoo.”

Some people are willing to bleed for a tattoo– and some people aren’t, even though they want one. Designer Yu-Chiao Wang understands that, and has come up with a way to acquire a painless “sun tattoo” by creating a wearable cloth stencil, which is basically a robe with an intricate pattern cut out on the back of it. The stencil covers only parts of your body, allowing the sun to tan only certain areas.

For a more defined “tattoo,” you would have to stay out for a longer period of time, which would increase your chances of acquiring skin cancer as well– so remember to use sunscreen if you decide to make one yourself.
