Jane Birkin’s daughter (yes Birkin of Hermes Birkin bag fame), Lou Doillon is right after Alexa Chung when it comes to my list of style muses. She’s currently the star of fashion designer Vanessa Bruno’s short film featuring her Spring 2010 collection, called Le bel été. I have no idea what that means in English, but I can imagine it means something along the lines of, “OMG CUTE CLOTHES, I WANT IT ALL.” More »

The first time I had a slice ofJunior’s cheesecake, it was love at first bite — with good reason! Junior’s claims to be home of New York’s best cheesecake. Personally, I haven’t tried every cheesecake to judge if it’s the best cheesecake in New York, but that first bite was enough to end any pursuits to find the best cheesecake in New York. It was as if my tastebuds found their long lost cheesecake soulmate. We want the same for you. For Valentine’s Day, and in the spirit of falling in love with Mixr, one lucky person will win a Heart Cheesecake courtesy of Junior’s! More »

Ever have those days where you wake up and you feel everything but cute? Of course you do. Even the cutest of cute have off days. Some more than others. At the same time, the state of being un-cute is often just a bad state of mind. You may view yourself as being off on a particular day, but the whole world views the opposite. For times like those, I’ve come up with a list of signs you can refer to to ensure that you are indeed, cute. More »

Sadly, I’m not an owner of a PSP but the PSP-3000 Sweet Limited Package, has got me wanting one in the worst way. The package is a collaboration between Sony and American fashion designer Jill Stuart. The bundle features a Blossom Pink-colored PSP-3000, a 4GB memory stick, a Jill Stuart cloth and a Jill Stuart-branded PSP carrying case. For the fashionista in me, this is one sweet deal. More »

Interestingly enough, this is old news. There have been many reported sightings of winged cats over the years (one of the earliest in 1842 by American author and poet, Henry David Thoreau) in Russia and in the United States. More »

I must admit, I love dressing up my tissue boxes/rolls up, but it’s not like a daily thing I do. I’ve had this little guy up here for so long that one of his eyes came out (which explains the tiny heart sticker patch haha). Although I don’t collect tissue covers, I like giving them out as gifts. If you’re looking for something fun and quirky to give to someone, I think these are perfect (the reasonably priced ones at least). More »

Berrysprite, one of my favorite kawaii blogs just put out a free download of super cute February calendar wallpaper that’s Heart Carnival themed. The story behind Heart Carnival: Scout the rabbit, Hammie the pig and Oscar the bear are having a fun day at the annual heart carnival of Apple Valley… Oscar secretly fed a peanut to the elephants when no one was looking! I have not purchased a Blythe doll in almost two years due to my inactivity as a collector and being finicky about choosing which ones to add to my collection. However, last week, when CWC revealed the final design for their upcoming Blythe release Nostalgic Pop, I was instantly smitten. Either it was her pouty lips, Radiance face mold (my favorite), translucent skin, or her love for vintage Japanese manga, I fell under her charm. More »

As popular as couple key chains are, sometimes they’re a bit hard to come by. For instance, I can’t find the one shown above for sale anywhere! Anyways, they make a cute gift for your girl/boy/best friend for any occasion. More »

I had the most unpleasant shopping experience the other day when I was at So Good Jewelry in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district with my boyfriend. I checked them out on Yelp and apparently, they’re very notorious for their absolute lack of customer service. So this is what I have to say to them: More »

From Ningin: I know many of you already do, but this February, we want more people to fall in love with us. Why wouldn’t you love us? We make you happy, we make you laugh, we’re always here for you, and most importantly we get you expensive gifts. We also like long walks on the beach and the Avatar movie. So we really want to make this February - especially this Valentine’s day - special for you so that you’ll always remember and cherish it. Life is so short. Let’s make the most of it together! One of my favorite time wasting activities as of late are webcomics. Especially kawaii ones. I figure, kawaii not, ya know? If I’m going to be wasting time, it might as well be on cute, funny mini webcomics. Sure enough, kawaii yes, kawaii webcomics do exist and you can find them on Kawaii Not. More »

First Docomo released the Q-Pot Melting Chocolate phones and now they’ve teamed up with Seventeen Magazine (Japan) to release the “SH-05B” on Feb. 5. For a phone that comes in two shades of pink and endorsed by Michelle Pfeifer in Grease 2, they couldn’t come up with a more creative name? Sounds a little drab next to “Melting Chocolate.” The pink shades the phone comes in are Yurukawa pink which means “loosely pink” and yancha pink which means “mischievous pink.” More »

Miley Cyrus rocked an Herve Leger dress to last night’s 52nd Grammy awards. The dress itself was stunning as nothing less is expected of Herve Leger, but it looked out of place on Miley Cyrus. For a 17 year old, her dress along with her hair and make-up made her look too old. Also, the dress’ length doesn’t seem very appropriate for her age. More »

Flowers are nice, yes? Chocolate boxes are nice too, yes? Well a box of bloomin’ cupcakes is even better.

After graduating from Parsons School of Design, Keavy MacPherson Landreth, an artist with a sweet tooth, founded the the Kumquat Cupcakery in 2007, creating a unique style of miniature cupcakes which quickly became a hit in New York. She sells her cupcakes in Williamsburg’s Artists & Fleas and takes orders from her website [sorry guys, it's all within NY]. More »

The internet loves cats as evidence shows with the ridiculous popularity of lolcats. I, admittedly, have spent many hours wasted on I Can Has Cheezeburger awing, laughing, and crying at the adorable kittehz. I love cats as much as the internet, even when they wear clothes. In Tim Barber’s photography series, “Kitty City,” cute kittens not only wear clothes, but are living everyday life in the city as we humans live it. These photographs are featured in Fuse Gallery’s exhibit Animalania. More »

Recently I made a new friend in my design class [yay!] who introduced me to the works of a very talented and compassionate artist from Portland, Oregon, named Kurt Halsey. His paintings and drawings are very simple and sweet, as is his view on animals:

I cherish and am consumed by the companionship and magic of animals. I do not eat them or their by-products, wear their skin, or support companies that torture them for science. It takes nothing away from a human to be kind to an animal. More »
