I have been collecting Kewpie dolls for a few years now, but it never occurred to me to search for them on YouTube until now. This is what I did, and the results that came up in my search were astounding and a bit bizarre.

A Japanese company called Tarako has a brand of pasta sauce where they use Kewpies as their mascot. When I came across their commercials via YouTube, my mind was left boggled. I was creeped out, yet fascinated by them. My entire afternoon was spent rewatching the commercials over and over again, with my reactions not too different than the little girls’ sitting at the kitchen table. Kewpies are amazing, mesmerizing, and really, really strange creatures.

The jingle is infectious! I had it randomly stuck in my head for a few days. Be forewarned…
