Unless you’re talking the Kirei-Me Magic Painless Hair Removal Sponge (you can breathe now), hair removal is never, ever, ever cute. For most women, hair removal of any sort is the bane of our existence. How many people do you know get excited about waxing, plucking, tweezing or shaving? No one. Despite it’s mouthful of a name, the Kirei-Me Magic Painless Hair Removal Sponge has changed my mind about hair removal, namely the way I feel about removing the hair off my super un-Asian long legs.
Sidenote: The word ‘kirei’ is Japanese for beautiful.
At first glance, I wasn’t expecting much of a hair removal sponge that smiles back at you (see pictured.) I mean, when was the last time your bottle of Nair smiled at you in such a manner that wouldn’t promise bad odor? Alas, as I removed the packaging, the sponge ceased to smile (because the face is only printed on the packaging and not the sponge itself.) Having no knowledge of Japanese, I resorted to the YesStyle product info page I bought it off of for English directions. All I have to say is thanks YesStyle for offering instructions in English. I’d have hairy legs right now if it weren’t for you. Speaking of hairy legs, here’s the breakdown of my experience:
Body Hair Type: Thick. Don’t laugh.
Directions: On dry skin, rub the blue side of the sponge in a circular motion until voila…no more hair. Afterwards, smooth your skin over with the yellow side of the sponge.
The Experience: Easy to use. The results weren’t as instant as I had hoped for them to be, but then again, this product and no hair removal product promises instant hair removal. I don’t care if it’s marketed to be instant, either! I spent at least 10 minutes on each leg, rubbing the sponge in circular motion. There was no pain, water, soap or shaving cream involved. So, it really was like magic.
Overall: For only $15, I highly recommend this miracle working hair removal sponge. Two thumbs up!
