I have been following iamamiwhoami for the past few months and, like everyone else who is obsessed, I have been trying to figure out who is behind this mysterious viral campaign.

The videos are full of cryptic messages and folklore references with electronica music serving as a soundtrack. Along with each video are random links to other videos and numerical codes that are clues. There is also a woman whose identity is unknown. Two new videos have been released this month, with the latest one actually revealing the woman’s entire body wrapped in plastic. We get a somewhat clearer view of her facial features.

Just a few weeks ago, an employee of MTV who has been closely following the viral campaign received a letter from iamamiwhoami. Inside was a knot of blonde hair and a strip of paper that had pictures of the animals referenced in the videos.

Does this mean that whoever is behind iamamiwhoami is closer to exposing their real identity to the world?

There has been much speculation as to who is behind iamamiwhoami like Trent Reznor, Goldfrapp, MGMT, Lady Gaga, Aphex Twin, Lykke Li, Little Boots, The Knife and Fever Ray. Some people are even convinced it is Christina Aguilera since her new album Bionic is due out next month, although her reps have stated that she is 100% not involved. For a while, I, too, was one of those who really thought of the possibility of Aguilera being iamamiwhoami.

However, after seeing the comment of a user on one of the videos, I retracted this thought and now is convinced that it is Swedish singer Jonna Lee. Her physical features resemble the mysterious woman’s more than Aguilera’s does. Plus, she is playing at the SXSW festival this week. Maybe the videos are leading up to her performance? Who knows!

Well, whoever iamamiwhoami is, please reveal yourself soon. It would be nice to know who you are.
