Shoes of Prey is a website where fashionistas can customize shoes according to their own tastes. It was founded by Mike Knapp, Michael Fox and Jodie Fox and officially opened up shop in October 2009. Since then, the site has garnered an average of 150,000 visitors each month. Shoes of Prey has become so successful that Mike and Michael actually left their jobs at Google to concentrate on the business full-time.

The software is simple to use. You pick the type of shoe you want, ranging from flats to peep toe heels, and choose any color, heel size, embellishments, material, toe shape, or backing to your liking. There are over 3 trillion possible style combinations.

Here are some examples from the Shoes of Prey gallery to get an idea of the many style possibilities.

Prices vary according to the shoe–ballet flats costs $180; for 1/2 to 3 1/2 inch heels it is $230; and 4 to 4 1/2 inch heels costs $280. Even though they are a bit pricey, I think it is worth the money spent. Admittedly, I am a recovering spendthrift and shopaholic and try not to spend beyond my means. However, when it comes to one-of-a-kind, unique, or limited edition fashion, I splurge a little. I would not mind walking around in 3 1/2 inch turquoise and pink fishskin heels, knowing that I was the designer of my own watermelon-inspired shoes.
