When Pucca is not going around chasing her crush Garu, she can be found playing music, literally. Korean company POINTFIVE will be releasing a Pucca-shaped mp3 player, designed specifically with young girls in mind. However, the young-at-heart will surely want to get their hands on this too. I know I would. More »

On my last day at WonderCon, I attended the Emily the Strange panel. As I sat in the back of the room waiting for the previous panel to be over, a tall, lanky man dressed in head-to-toe black came in and sat down two seats away from me. I had never seen him before. However, it was obvious who it was because of his briefcase with Emily the Strange stickers all over it–Rob Reger, Emily’s creator. More »

Skelanimals are a little bit morbid while at the same time sweet–adorable dead animals trying to look for a loving and caring owner to go home with. We have all seen them in stores such as Hot Topic and Target, with their large, hollow eyes staring at us sadly, wanting us to adopt them. More »

Snuggies take the fun out of wearing pajamas and keeping warm around the house when it gets cold. BunnyWarez is a company that brings both of these elements together and makes them fun. Their booth at WonderCon was full of animal-inspired jammies that were lively and imaginative, which brought me back memories of my own childhood when I used to wear my pink footsie pajamas in the wintertime. This might come as shocking news, but I don’t own a credit card — and I’m 25. Hello Kitty, unfortunately, is not pleased. Especially since there are quite a variety of Hello Kitty credit cards available. I’m not familiar with the sort of benefits that come with being a Hello Kitty credit card owner other than the fact that you get to benefit from having a cute credit card in your wallet. More »

Lovers of all things Kawaii and San-X, meet Berry Puppy. Berry Puppy is exactly who you think it is — a cute puppy with a certain affinity for berries. It’s not entirely clear which berry, but I’m guessing strawberries just by looking at it. More »

It was not so much the free candy that was up for grabs on the table, but more of the visuals at artist Fiona Meng’s booth that caught my eye. Since I am a fan of feminine art, I was naturally drawn to the soft, colorful surrealism of her images. Currently based in San Francisco, Fiona (who is originally from Canada) grew up being heavily influenced by Japanese manga. More »

Opening its doors in 2009, the Maison Moschino is an exclusive design hotel converted from the old neoclassical railway station on Viale Monte Grappa, 12, which was originally built in 1840 for the Milan-Monza route. While making my rounds at WonderCon, I came across the Magboo Jewelry booth. I was attracted to the delicate, cute jewelry on display. It was there where I met Tara Magboo, the creator of the San Diego based company. Inspired by Japanese pop culture and artists such as Takashi Murakami, Tara explores her fun and whimsical side through her jewelry line Adorable Mayhem. More »

I don’t know what it is about cute nondescript animated Japanese characters that makes me love them so much. Is it the fact that this video features a ‘thing’ with a faucet as a head? Or another ‘thing’ with a telephone for a head? Quite possibly. Aside from that, all I can gather is that one of them has attachment issues. Any more words I could use to describe the cuteness of this video (or the video itself) is kind of useless. Just watch: More »

Seems like I’ve failed to include more of Joapa’s Chibi Lady Gaga drawings. The more I see these chibi Gaga drawings, the more I’m convinced that Lady Gaga would make for a great animated cartoon series. I, for one, would love to see her take on the world one sequin at a time…with a disco stick. More »

From Ziggytek: Givori’s Calypso is an 18Kt gold-plated Nokia 8800 (itself a very basic and cheap unit), selling for AED 12,000 ($3,266 USD). Mother-of-pearl adorned, the fish scale motif hearkens to the Greek sea, from which Calypso draws its inspiration. Why do I keep covering this outrageous stuff? Because it is so ridiculous that it fascinates me. More »
