Actress Sandra Bullock proved this week just how humble she is, sending a donation of $1 million to the Amerian Red Cross – contributing to the relief efforts. Red Cross claim that this is the largest celebrity donation so far. But don’t forget that some could have been kept confidential.
ARC said “This contribution is vitally important as the Red Cross works to provide critical assistance and essential relief items in this time of urgent need for so many people in Japan.”
Apparently, her donation was made on behalf of her family. Social networking accounts were used by celebrities to urge fans to support the Red Cross with small donations. Via cell phone text messages, $10 donations have led to the aid receiving more than $2.6 million. And around $47 million has been raised in total from the US.
