Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never has officially passed Michael Jackson’s This Is It in the US Box Office. Sales from this week’s Sunday pushed it over the edge to earn $72.2 million since it’s release six weeks ago, compared to This Is It, which only earned $72.1 million.
Though it’s not all over for MJ, his documentary still holds the worldwide record with $189.1 million grossed overseas and combined with the US total, for a global total of $261.2 million.
Pretty impressive numbers, especially since concert films don’t do all that great, but Paramount employed a pretty smart tactic to re-release “Never Say Never” with some new footage that would tempt people to want to watch it again. Obviously it worked.
