Dame Elizabeth, a legend in the Hollywood scene, has just died from heart failure, according to her spokeswoman. She died on the morning of March 23rd at Cedars Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, surrounding by her four children, at the age of 79.

By then, she had been receiving hospital treatment for six weeks. She had experienced regular bouts of ill health in her later years, but she continually fought back. Her friend Elton John said “We have just lost a Hollywood giant. More importantly, we have lost an incredible human being.”

Some stars used their Twitter accounts to pay tribute to her. For example, George Michael wrote “Such a sad day, Elizabeth Taylor was the last of the Hollywood greats, and a fantastically charming woman”.

What a sad ending to the life of a star who had a glittering career in front of the camera. Let’s just hope for the best for her family in this difficult time…
