Prom Night is one of the memorable experiences you’ll ever have. There’s a lot of things you can do to make this night extra-memorable and enjoyable. It just all depends on you! Let’s say you’ve already asked your crush to go out with you (or vice-versa) this night but aside from having the perfect date, you should already begin preparing in advance for prom. Check out these tips that can help you:
CONSIDER THE THEME
Before preparing for everything else, consider the theme! Is it Masquerade? Bohemian?
PROPER DIET
Uh-oh no crash diets, please! Start doing this now! Having a healthier diet doesn’t only help you to prepare for this one awesome night but it can actually help you adapt and change your current lifestyle. First of all, try to set goals. Planning on losing 10 pounds? Then go for it! Reduce your calorie intake. Cut down on fatty foods and start eating healthier foods such as green veggies and fruits. By the way, this doesn’t mean that you can’t eat your favorite sweets anymore, just learn how to limit yourself. One last important thing, don’t ever try to skip a meal just to lose weight. It will just make you hungrier later on.
PROPER EXERCISE
Well of course, you also need to exercise to lose weight. Don’t just simply rely on what you eat. Instead of watching TV all day long at home, why don’t you play badminton with friends or swim instead?
PROM DRESS
Start shopping for your dress months before prom! but if you’re a bit short in cash you can still borrow your friend’s dress. If you’re going to have your dress made, be sure to have enough time since you have to fit it a lot of times.
Let’s say you already have a dress. What you need to do is fit it a few weeks to check if you need to do some alterations. (What if you lose or gain weight?) or do a dress rehearsal at home! From there, you’ll know if you need to change something or not.
HAIR AND MAKE-UP
Make sure to have what make-up and hairstyle to wear a couple of weeks before prom! If you’re doing it yourself, do a make-up test. It’s time to experiment with looks to try! Also, remember to style your hair first before applying make-up!
If you’re not doing your hair and make-up yourself, then you should have booked an appointment a month before. On the day of the prom, go to the salon early. Don’t miss your appointment!
GET A MANICURE/PEDICURE
If you’re planning to do this yourself, this simple guide I found can help you. You can also hit the salon and let them do the work for you.
HAIR REMOVAL
This is to complete your look. Of course, you want to get rid of unnecessary hair. Waxing is the solution. You can do this yourself at home but you can also get a professional hair remover who of course, can do better than you.
PRACTICE WALKING IN HIGH HEELS
Be sure to practice walking in your shoes especially if you’re not used to wearing high heels. You don’t want others to laugh at you. Don’t you?
GET ENOUGH SLEEP
This is the simplest tip on this list yet this is one of the most essential things to do. Get at least 7 hours of sleep. Now, that’s what they call beauty sleep!
PREPARE AN EMERGENCY KIT
Need last minute touch-ups? Prepare lipstick, concealer, pins, mints, oil blotting film and other stuff that might need! Then you’re all set!

Fantastic tips, Sharmaine! Also about the dress, everyone, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a good dress. It seems the common price people spend is between $100-$200 I hear, but if you can’t afford it try going to some cheaper stores. My prom dress for my senior year...well it wasn’t exactly a prom dress, I wanted to show more of my personality through this prom and boy did I, even so that they made a big feature about it in the yearbook, hahah. And that dress was $78, but I went out of my way to buy spend more. Also I got it over the internet which was a little worrying, but it worked out. But I am having one of my high school friends take me this year, because I wanted the chance to wear a real prom dress, I found a fantastic prom dress brand new for only $18! For real. So you can find a cheap prom dress, just have to look in the right stores. I don’t know if this store is everywhere, but I had gotten my dress at Ross, good prices. Also, that very same dress I saw in other stores, but was selling for $60 more, so be sure to keep your options open and check everywhere before making your decision. Just wanted to through that out there for you all ^^
thx for the tips!!
