With every venture down to the Central Business District, I made an oath to invest and indulge in at least one flavor of macaroons each time. As previously mention in an earlier Nom This article dedicated to Pistachio Macaroons, I expressed my lust to just have more and considering the pricey expense of buying these small delectable, I decided to just make my own! Likewise, with today’s Nom This article I return with yet another recipe, what I like to call, Chocolate Macaroons with Caramel Cream.
It sounds delicious already doesn’t it? When it comes to desserts, its is undeniable that chocolate and caramel are the perfect combination. Whether it be one or the other, it is evidently a great contender for the world’s best flavored desserts! To be honest, when I saw this flavor at the store, I was quite ‘iffy’ on getting it but I gave it a go anyways. Yet, surprisingly it did not disappoint!
Being an extreme sweet addict, I couldn’t help but admire at the simplicity of the presentation combined with the explosive flavor of the light texture and crusty exterior. The soft chewy garnish that held the two biscuits together were simply to die for! Not only was it sweet but it also possessed a smooth creamy consistency, giving that contrasting flavor and texture.
A macaroon for all of you guys that do not know is simply a ’sandwhiched’ cookie that is filled with either jam, ganache or buttercream. It can be made in a variety of flavors and presented in varying colors corresponding to the flavor as well as with it’s stuffings.
For those who have not yet tried macaroons, I strongly recommend you to taste at least one as it is extremely delightful and surely satisfying. The addictive range of flavors will definitely fulfill everyone’s personal desires. With the summer holidays up and away, you sure find time for macaroons!
To make Chocolate Macaroons with Caramel Cream, you will need the following,
225 grams icing sugar
125 grams ground almonds
1 level tablespoon cocoa powder
110 grams egg whites (about 4), brought to room temperature
30 grams granulated sugar
Pinch of salt
1 small pot of double (heavy) cream
1-2 tablespoons dulce de leche
