A new idea in clothing has been spreading, starting from New York, thanks to Drew Stanley. The new style is called Touchables and it gets people touching each other. How? Well if you’ll check out this photo, you might get an idea.
Notice the pockets? They’re slits for the hands of couples, positioned where the palms are usually placed. These shirts are called the Coupling Shirts.
Here is a shirt with a hole-pattern on them which were cut by lasers. This shirt “is meant to simulate the feelings that bodies make on each other during contact.”
There’s another detail that hints at human to human contact. The tags inside the shirts are sewn to face upward so others will feel inclined to push them down for you. So, more touching.
I find this idea to be quite eccentric, but intriguing nonetheless. Not something I’d wear though, I have to say.
Do these pique your interest?
