Feeling the excitement yet? Harry Potter fans had the chance to join the new online magical world hub of ‘Pottermore‘ in July last year. However, it was a limited beta release for the first 1 million fans who could complete the “Magical Quill Challenge” and register on the site. The invite to all others who wished to go on the magical journey was intended for October, but it was pushed back to the estimation of April 2012, with the beta period prolonged. Now, the site is open for public registration as of April 14.
A description on the site reads: “Explore the Harry Potter stories in a whole new way and discover exclusive new writing from J.K. Rowling. The first story in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is now ready for you to explore – but that’s just the beginning of the Pottermore journey…”
For those who will join, the sign up process is quite simple, separated into five steps. It will ask for a birth date, country of residence, name and email, password of choice for the account and lastly, a quick survey on which Harry Potter books or movies one has read or watched. A list of five randomly generated usernames will be available for choosing, due to the site’s Child Safety policy. At the end, ‘Pottermore’ will tell the applicant to check the entered email regularly for the joining instructions. A recent blog post on the site states, “We’re expecting to be really busy to start with and plan to activate new registrations in a steady stream. This means that you may not get access to Pottermore immediately after you sign up but we will get you exploring the site as quickly possible.”
Upon entering, one will be sorted into one of the four Hogwarts houses and have a wand chose him or her, gaining access to exclusive content from J.K. Rowling herself and much more.
Are you magical enough to join the wizarding world of ‘Pottermore’? Only one way to find out!

That’s totally wicked! How come I’ve never heard about this before T_T
Ahh, finally. It’s been a while, and I’ve been wondering when it would open to the public. I’ll definitely check it out.
