As one of the most successful pop stars of the 21st century, Katy Perry is taking her know-how and putting into a record label. This might seem a bit silly since CD sales have plummeted, but Katy Perry is taking her chances and pushing forward with the idea.

“I’m preparing for it now,” Perry explained, “And when this record label does come to fruition, I’m going to try and avoid the things that take away any fighting chance for an artist to have financial success.”

With this artist-friendly stance, I’m sure whichever new artist she signs will be very happy for the support and name of Katy Perry behind them.

Still, she is not the first star to launch her own record label, as Madonna and Prince also did. Some stars do it for some more income and publicity, but it looks Perry is doing it for all the right reasons.
