Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are divorcing

It’s seems that after 5 years of marriage, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise will be divorcing. Tom Cruise, who is 4 days away from his 50th birthday and Katie Holmes, 33 have a 6 year old daughter Suri as well. This announcement came after Holmes had skipped out the premiere of Cruise’s latest film, Rock of Ages.

Bert Fields, lawyer of Tom Cruise stated that Katie was the one that first initiated the divorce:

“Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out.”

Meanwhile, Jonathan Wolfe, Katie Holme’s lawyer has stated:

“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”

This is the third marriage for Tom Cruise after divorcing his first wife, Mimi Rogers for 3 years and Nicole Kidman for 10 years. He and Holmes married in an Italian castle in 2006.

Tom Cruise is currently working on his film, Oblivion, while Katie Holmes is currently working with on an untitled film that is a modern adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull.

I guess we have yet another failed celebrity marriage among the long list of previous ones.
