For the fivesome boyband One Direction, this year’s VMAs will mark their first of its kind in their lives. Having been nominated for two categories, Best New Artist and Best Pop Video, the boys are definitely nervous and excited for the big event.
“We’re really looking forward to the VMAs,” Liam Payne admitted. “It’s quite nerve-racking as well, because obviously there’s been so many historical moments and stuff that have happened at the VMAs. Now we want to make a moment ourselves, but who knows? I think performing at the VMAs is such a huge occasion. I think it ranks up there with one of the best performances we’ll do so far.”
Fellow group member Harry Styles also commented,
“It’s a big occasion to perform at the VMAs, and we’re here for our fans. So this one’s for our fans.”
After already breaking records for their debut album Up All Night in the States this year and going on tour around the world, the boyband is hoping to continue wooing the American side of things with their next album in a couple of months and this very VMA performance on Thursday, September 6, at 8 p.m. ET at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.
Also, if you haven’t already voted for them, start right now! (The links are provided above with the category name.)
