Avril Lavigne and Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger are Engaged!

Yes, it may be shocking since practically nobody else knew, but Canadians Avril Lavigne and Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger are engaged after a six month relationship!

The couple first got together in February when they met up to write a song for Avril’s upcoming fifth album.

“A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together,” says a friend of Avril.

Chad Kroeger first popped the big question on Aug. 8th with a huge 14 carat diamond.

“He makes her so happy,” a family source tells People Magazine. “Both of their families could not be more excited.”

This will be 37 year old Kroeger’s first walk down the aisle, while it will be the 27 year old Lavigne’s second. She was previously married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley in 2009. She had also dated Brody Jenner until January.
