Last night over coffee/tea/dessert, Ningin Blogger Mia put me onto the cutest, most colorful and cheap (!) eyeshadow I’ve seen in a while. Now I consider myself a bit knowledgeable on cheapie makeup (that is actual quality makeup), because besides the fact that I’m a broke college student, spending over 10 bucks for some lip gloss is retarded to me. Especially since I’m prone to lose things. Anywho, yes, Mia brought these cute little L.A. Colors loose shimmer shadows to my attention, and I’m now on a sworn mission to find a place in the Bronx that sells them because I WANT EVERY COLOR!

I don’t know if I’ve blogged this yet, as I’m sure I may have; considering the amount of youtube posts I’ve done this past year, but I’m in love with this girl’s handiwork. Her name is Lauren aka Panacea81, she’s from the UK and she’s one of the most loveable, adorable, and talented makeup artists I’ve ever seen on youtube. I was linked to one of her videos by a good friend of mine, and since then I’ve been hooked to her videos. She is AMAZING! Mind you, with practically no formal training in cosmetology, she’s a master at creating the most dynamic and beautiful eye art that can rival the best in the industry.

Well the year is already a day old, and like everyone else on the planet, I’ve got some goals that I want to achieve this year. The thing is though, that I’m not really good with keeping these resolutions. LOL They usually fade into oblivion by March. I think that happens because I always have this ambitious laundry list of things that I want to accomplish and in the end, I’m just overwhelmed with how much I “need” to do, and end up either half assing it, or putting it off until never. Yeah, I said until never. Down with Procratination!

If your eyes are anything like mine (puffy, dark circles and bags), then you must be dying for a fix. I’ve used a few products in the past but none have really done the trick and home remedies aren’t really helping me either. I swear I’m cursed. However, now there’s a solution (maybe).

Garnier Nutrioniste has released their Skin Renew that is an anti-puff eye roller. It’s basically roller that has a caffeine gel formula that you massage onto your eyes and it deflates the puffiness, diminishes dark circles and makes your eyes look brighter. Sounds too good to be true but infamous Taiwanese blogger Xiaxue has used the product and seems to swear by it.

Haven’t gotten a chance to try it out myself but I’m dying to get my hands on a bottle.

For my last 2008 “Fab Faves” entry, I’m going to end with a list of my reflections this year. Despite my health going kaput this year, I’m amazed by how much had happened in a single year! I hope you all had a great year! I’m looking forward to 2009 and hope it will be better than 2008!

Girl Gamer: Expanded my game selections for the DS. In fact, the DS is the only system I played on all year long! I even played games I never would have thought to play! (ie: Princess Debut)

Proud Nerd: Discovered that I graduated cum laude with a 3.85 gpa from my uni, to which my mother heard me say it as “cula” and “goon goh goo ma” (sweet potato in Korean).

You know, I always think it’s difficult to buy presents for “adults”, especially for like my mum and dad. My mum wants something expensive like a diamond, and my dad doesn’t want anything. Well, he wants a sports car, but that’s way beyond what I can afford.

I lucked out on my mum and aunt this year, though. I ran into this Elizabeth Arden Stack Your Colour 3-tier Make-up Set for $21 bucks. It’s funny, though, since I didn’t bother to look at the colours or anything. I just bought the thing because after spending 45 minutes in the store looking at expensive perfume set, I grew discouraged and when I saw what a bargain this was, I bought two of them.

Even though it isn’t Christmas yet, they both opened it upon my command (had fun watching them figure out how to open the thing) and both gushed about how the colours were the kind they liked. That’s great. I’m glad. This was a great gift idea for them. Good thing I don’t wear make-up or I’d steal my mum’s.

That’s what Associated Press’s Samantha Critchell is saying on Yahoo! Buzz. According to the article, Pantone Color Institute’s executive director, Leatrice Eiseman states that yellow is “the color of the future” because it reminds us of “warmth, sunshine and cheer — all the good things we’re in dire need of right now.” I kinda have to agree. Yellow does make me happy, that is, if it’s the right shade. Pale yellow tends to make me think of pee….lol but that’s just because I’m a bit unhinged……

It was bound to happen. MAC (infamous for their everchanging limited edition collections) has teamed up with Hello Kitty for a new collection set for release on Feb. 12th instores (Feb. 10th online)

The collection features the infamous feline on a variety of cosmetics, from lip glosses to eyeshadows.

A doll will also be avaliable for purchase, and a high end line (for this collection) will feature higher priced lipglosses and more, known as “Hello Kitty Kouture”.

Remember the Barbie collection frenzy? I expect this to outdo that by at least a few thousand more rabid shoppers. Although the packaging is cute, part of me has decided to not buy anything from this collection until the frenzy dies down (by then, I’m sure a lot of the collection will be sold out anyways).

Word is MAC will open up waiting lists in a few weeks for the collection. What does this remind me of? THose people who wait for those super expensive handbags. Oh boy - this stirs up the rabid shoppers even more. I do have my eye on one of the glosses though - the Hello Kitty addition wouldn’t hurt.

Will you try out the Hello Kitty collection? Do you look forward to it?

Not to sound egotistical or anything, but I’ve been told by more than one person that they liked my fringes (bangs in American English XD). For the longest time, that baffled me. I had no idea why some people kept gushing about how they like and want my fringes, and I just give them a blank look and go, “Wha–?”

Finally, I asked one of my friends the reasoning behind it. She told me that my fringes have volume (or body?), and because of it, they don’t exactly stay flat on my forehead. After she told me that, I realised that she’s right. My fringes have volume. And that was the cause of my horrible trims I had for my fringes!

See, in the past, whenever I went to have them trimmed, I always tell the person to cut below my eyebrows because I look stupid when it’s shorter than that. I hated the end results because my fringes came out ending above my eyebrows, and I would become one unsatisfied customer. Well, it took me a while to realise that my fringes needed to be trimmed DRY not WET. Now that I know the reason why, I always ask for dry trim and tell them to cut where it meets the bottom of my eyes.

Petit Four Lip Gloss

So I’m not really into Lil’ Mama or anything, but I do love lip gloss, like most chicks. Been in love since I got my extra large size raspberry Lipsmackers when I was 10. I still like lipsmackers, I won’t deny it, but I’ve branched out. For the super cutest lip glosses and everything else kitschy and freakin’ adorable, check out www.fredflare.com. They just launched a brick and mortar store at 131 Meserole Ave in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, so you can scoop up the cute in person. It’s a great store to go to for novelty items for holiday presents for your friends. It’s stuff you don’t really need, but so cute, it’s a justifiable splurge. So here is my cute gift guide (all available at fredflare.com):

1. Petit Four Lip Balm Set- $18
4 juicy pots of lip gloss in the shape of a raspberry cream tart, cream tart, chocolate cream puff, and strawberry cream tart.
