Cheeky. Daft. Loo. Bloody hell.

Imagine all of these words said by a guy from the Bronx. No offense, but it isn’t exactly fun to hear.

No, the only way these words or slang terms will ever be sexy is when read in the divine London accent. Cockney need not apply; if you’ve ever seen a Guy Ritchie film and had no idea what was being said, chances are it was the cockney accent.

The UK is compromised of multiple segments so every area has a unique accent for herself - but that’s another story for another time. Here is a video that does a better job at it than I do.

Warning, vulgar language.

While I was reading womenentrepreneur.com (dork alert! don’t judge ;D), I stumbled across this blog called Entrepreneur’s philoSophie’s: A weekly comic for women entrepreneurs.

Basically, it’s a blog of cute little inspirational illustrations by a young woman named Joanna Alberti. The name puns on her main character’s name Sophie. Her main business is a line of greeting cards featured around Sophie and her fun, entrepreneurial, and distinctly girly life. The illustrations that go up on the blog, however, are a good way to get a dose of the inspiration without having to buy the cards ;) One of my favorites is featured here.

Since Joanna is a young woman entrepreneur herself, I’m sure Sophie must be somewhat autobiographical. According to the philoSophie website, Sophie is… You! “Witty, confident, compassionate and fun! You love being yourself and true to your values.” I would add that Sophie is a can-do business savvy girl who is doing things Cashmere Mafia style (RIP).

One of my friends is getting a new pet for Christmas and when she told us what it was, no one had any clue what the hell she was talking about. Apparently she’s getting a baby “sugar glider,” which after a few attempts at describing we deduced was a flying koala chipmunk. Not like that really clears up the confusion.

So a quick google image search revealed that a flying koala chipmunk is pretty much as good of a description as it gets. Admittedly, it’s adorable (especially the babies - they’re TINY).

Apparently sugar gliders are tiny marsupials that come from Australia. They’ve been around the U.S. for about 20 years as companion pets, and in high numbers too! Ever trustworthy Wikipedia puts the numbers at 1.1 million domestic sugar gliders in 2007, which is approximately the same number of hamsters and guinea pigs owned by American families that year. I’ve owned hamsters myself and I’ve had friends who owned guinea pigs, but I have NEVER heard of a sugar glider until now. I wonder why that is.

More fun facts: They’re “lively and inquisitive nature” who get along with humans if given “plenty of attention (a minimum of 1-2 hours of daily human interaction).” So basically smaller and less slobbery than dogs but more interactive than a cat for anyone thinking about late Christmas gifts ;)

My life has become pretty hectic lately so while cleaning out some of my junk, I stumbled upon this piece of treasure: a Dunkin Doughnuts planner.

In Korea, I had frequent my local Dunkin Doughnuts. Like most franchises, DD had a frequent buyer card where after 10 purchases; you can get a free something. In this case, I had gotten a planner with a DD theme. I fell in love because I love the style of it both inside and out; however, I never found a use for it until now.

It’s become my best friend in recent weeks as I keep tabs on upcoming events and blog posts for Ningin and GirlyBubble. It’s been a lifesaver and I don’t think I can live without it now.

What do you use to keep your life in check?

What?! No that’s not a typo, this post is actually about finals week and the things I heart about it. You may be asking yourself what is there to heart about  tons of essays, exams and stress all at once? Trust me, there are a few things.

For those of you not in school, this is a perfect opportunity to point and laugh while we students stress and struggle. If you’re on the Struggle Bus (as Ming referred to it) then share your faves too!

Inspired by Tiffany, I decided to do my favorite features.

I’m not conceited; I’m just trying to inspire other girls to find something they love about themselves. Every girl should be happy with the cards they’ve been dealt. “Work with what your mama gave ya.” You shouldn’t fight who you are. And if something does make you unhappy for whatever reason, do something about it.

I’ve coined some new lingo with my suitemate today that I think will be useful to every girl who’s ever been involved with a guy and then had to recreate their relationship with him on a platonic level. There’s no word in the English language to describe that kind of relationship - a friend and an ex but more complicated, more bittersweet. So we’ve decided that these kinds of guys are sour patch kids. Read on to see why:

Last year I dated a guy who was all kinds of crazy and made me all kinds of crazy (good and bad). We ended horribly - the kind of breakup that involves a lot of bad language, secrets coming out that should never be revealed, facebook blocking, and months of silent treatment. And now seven months later we’re talking again and trying to be friends. It’s impossible for us to ever be friends the way we’re friends with other people - we’ve hurt each other too much for full trust and seen too much of the other person for full platonicity. It’s impossible for us to ever be lovers again because there’s too much damage. But the chemistry existed for a reason so it’s fun to be around him.

Here’s another article written by AmpedAsia on relationships. This one I found a little more agreeable; however, again some are just a no.

10. Be playful.
When I read this I thought they meant ditzy but if you read the description they mean you need to joke around. I guess the better phrase would be, be flirtatious.

9. Smell good.
You shouldn’t stink in the first place!

8. Be feisty.
Reading the description, it says play hard to get. I can’t agree with it because you shouldn’t be feisty, you should be strong. Don’t let a guy walk all over you but don’t walk all over him either.

For some reason I was sitting around talking about Pokemon with a bunch of my friends and commenting that Mew is a girl.

This point was contested, so I went home to check and sure enough, according to Bulbapedia, Mew is “genderless.”

There is definitely something wrong with that. Mew is an adorable PINK CAT. I cannot think of a more gendered way of signifying GIRL. It bounces around on a pink ball that’s supposed to be synonymous with a womb (her tail being an umbilical cord and her body being somewhat fetus-like). It’s also a very childish Pokemon who’s attracted to lullabies and wants to play and laugh all the time.

Seriously, if that description doesn’t have girliness written all over it I don’t know what does. How can Mew not be girl?!?!

Not really but here’s a funny story.

I was just working on the computer until I saw a squirrel in outside. I grabbed my camera but as soon as I tried to take the picture, it ran to the side. So I went to the other room to take the picture but then my battery died. Luckily I had an extra so I switched it out but as soon as I finished, the squirrel was gone. I was pretty pissed off at this point and just went back to my computer to work. Then a few minutes later, I see two squirrels and was finally able to take the effing photo. I was pretty happy but then the excitement died down after I realized how much work it was.
