From Omghaute: It was a mix of classic shapes paired off with the not-so-classic, but rather bold and inventive for Mathieu Mirano’s Fall 2013 collection. A black zip-up fox fur jacket was paired with a pencil skirt studded with not studs, but actual meteorite fragments. The hemlines on a dress in black or blush were assymetric, featuring only half a chiffon train. Some black fur coats featured a see-through windowed side and one particular nude sheer skirt featuring a strip of fur running down the side of the skirt that the left leg would normally find itself in. From Omghaute: Disney’s Brave comes to mind when it comes to Susan Woo’s Fall 2013 collection. Woo’s Fall 2013 woman is much like Brave’s Merida, but if Merida were a modern, fashion-forward woman. This woman is a damsel in distress who realizes she has the power to change her situation. That said, the collection appeared to be all about romance but with an edge. More »

From Omghaute: A post-apocalyptic world is commonly perceived to be dark, dreary and hopeless. Jackie Fraser-Swan, the designer behind Emerson envisions a different post-apocalyptic world, one that is beautiful and full of optimism. This inspiration can be seen in the Fall 2013 Emerson collection under the notion that, “the Earth would come back to life in a much more beautiful way than ever imagined.” The pieces in the collection didn’t particularly speak a post-apocalyptic world to me, but rather, the ’90s and punk. This disconnect is mostly because when I think of post-apocalypse, I think of dirty rags and no shoes. I’m thankful Jackie Fraser-Swan and I don’t share the same vision. More »

Taking inspiration from the bold and whimsy of the ’70s, designer Emma Fletcher played around a lot to balance the trippy kaleidoscope-esque prints and geometries with softer shapes and delicate knit and sheer fabrics that were more tailored, elegant, and feminine.
