From Omghaute: The romantic country aesthetic is something that heavily inspires Gabriela Perezutti’s Candela brand. This inspiration can be seen with every season. It’s something that Perezutti does best, and something she loves doing. No surprise there, given her rural upbringing in Uruguay. For the Fall, Perezutti offered a somewhat disjointed collection that was unified by romantic qualities. For example a chunky knit vest over a hand-beaded flapper dress with fringe or a fringe-sleeved sweatshirt over a deco-inspired hand-beaded skirt were both a mash-up of country and the ’20s but somehow worked. From Omghaute: Last season, Tadashi Shoji took us on a sartorial journey through the Silk Road. This Fall 2013 season, he’s focused on Russia. The collection, inspired by a recent trip to Russia featured a variety of voluminous separates inspired by the Russian Orthodox priest robes. To keep things modern, the bodices were fitted. Peasant dresses were also sent down the runway, said to have been inspired by the royal family’s escape to Siberia during the revolution of 1917. Dresses weren’t all of the peasant-variety — luxurious gowns fit for any Russian princess (or anyone attending award ceremonies, galas or balls) were made of velvet in black and red. More »

From Omghaute: The Fall 2013 season marked Erin Barr’s first-ever fashion week runway show. Erin Barr’s Fall 2013 collection draws inspiration from time spent in her parents cabin in Northern Wisconsin otherwise known as the Northwoods. The Northwoods is referenced in the collection in a palette of forest green, sage, verdigris and pine up against ice and twilight blue. The overall theme of the collection was sensuality in nature and how it contrasts to the female body. More »
