Remember that Vivienne Tam HP laptop that I was salivating over a month ago? It’s finally here and available for purchase! Here’s the main site where you can order and the facebook event for more information. If you place an order by Dec. 12, you can get one just in time for holiday giving.

This laptop is part of HP’s “The Computer is Personal Again” campaign. Frankly I’m not sure how personal this is really getting if thousands of other people have the exact same machine with the exact same designs, but I definitely see how they’re catering to a much more specific interest group that isn’t usually associated with tech savviness. It’s a big appeal for girls like me who squeal over Google’s high tech phones just as much as Vivienne Tam’s Spring 2009 collection’s peony floral prints. They seem to get that too, saying “this special edition notebook seeks to satisfy the highly mobile, Internet-centric fashionista.”

Features to consider before you buy: 10.2-inch diagonal BrightView display (very small), fashionable wallpaper (super cute), 8-color finish and custom slip cover (practical), priced at $699 (relatively cheap). The small size will probably comprimise the quality of the computer’s speed, functions, and storage space, but that’s why it’s a digital clutch - you’re only supposed to carry the essentials in this discreet, gorgeous looking little bag that will look fabulous even during a night out on the town. Not sure if you want a laptop with you when you go clubbing, but the concept is close ;)

Yes, I said prostitutes. I’m pretty sure legendary designer Stephen Sprouse would be rolling in his grave if he read todays WWD article about Mr. Marc Jacobs, creative director of Louis Vuitton, taking Sprouse’s artwork and slapping it all over LV accessories. At first glance, I’m like, oh yay I love Stephen Sprouse, and it’s so great that he is getting some much deserved attention again. But then, on second thought, I’m like, no Stephen Sprouse would not want his talents prostituted. In 2001, when Stephen Sprouse originally collaborated with Marc Jacobs and LV, he hated working in such a corporate environment and actually said “I was Stephen Sprouse. Am I prostituting my talents?”. Marc Jacobs isn’t simply reissuing past collaborative projects with Sprouse, but is taking the ideas of Sprouse and almost making them his own. Such as Sprouse signature graffiti print on accessories and his rose paintings. So, I’m still excited that a new generation will be exposed to Sprouse’s work, but this commercialization is sick, especially when Marc Jacobs not only makes money off of Sprouse’s mind, but will receive much credit. Just check out the January Harper’s Bazaar spread with a naked Marc Jacobs covered in LV graffiti and strategically placed accessories. Is it just me, or is Marc Jacobs completely full of himself? ouch, I know. But I’ve got to stick up for the dear departed genius Stephen Sprouse.

Also from Jan. 8 to Feb. 28 2009, there will be a retrospective on Sprouse called “Rock on Mars” at the Deitch Projects at 18 Wooster St. I hope that will be more respectable.

Say WHAT!? According to a lawsuit filed by 31 year old Roberta Ritter of Ohio, Victoria’s Secret bras were causing her to break out in hives, develop blisters and rashes and she’s even got scars to prove it. But scars alone aren’t her only proof of VS bras being the culprit of her itchy boobs; her lawyers had her bras tested just to make sure she wasn’t some looney bin out to make a few million, and what do you know, she wasn’t just making it up!

I don’t know about you, but this picture makes me really happy. REALLY seriously awesomely happy. It’s a beautiful family if I’ve ever seen one. A family that deserves to live in the White House 110% even if their skin isn’t white.

We all already know I pretty much have a crush on Barack (not quite, but I almost never give a damn about politicians so this is something). And for what it’s worth I pretty much have a girl-crush on Michelle. She’s the perfect first lady - smart Princeton AND Harvard grad, gorgeous figure that looks killer with the sweet dresses she picks out (how can you not LOVE this black and red combo with the criss-crossed wide belt and cute cardigan?), and totally devoted mom.

And on that note I’m mega jealous of Sasha and Malia. They’re looking super cute as well in red and black dresses to match their mom and they’re getting a PUPPY. Seriously. I have it written down here… 12:04pm Mr. Obama says they “have earned the new puppy” that he promised them. Did I not JUST post about how I want a puppy?!?

I am feeling so good about the next four years for many many reasons. But it certainly helps knowing that there will be this kind of beautiful family picture on the mantle.

What are your thoughts on Obama’s history-making win??

Ok not quite. But apparently this girl does.

The video is a BarelyPolitical.com production featuring actress and model Amber Lee Ettinger (although Leah Kauffman actually did the vocals) and now she’s got an entire website devoted to Obama Girl.

It’s a bit creepy for sure, but I have to admit that Obama is ridiculously charming, witty, lean, balanced, and mature. He’s also relatively young for a presidential candidate and the deep voice certainly helps. So creeped out maybe but not totally weirded out heh =P

On a serious note, I’m sure everyone’s sick of this by now but I gotta say it - if you are 18+ and a US citizen, there is no reason to not vote tomorrow if you haven’t already. I don’t even live in my home state anymore and I voted via absentee ballot. This is especially true for all the ladies of this nation because we’ve only been able to enjoy this privilege for less than a century, so use it!

And if you’re having trouble deciding, just look at Obama Girl… the adoration, albeit creepy, is just a little bit contagious right? ;D Apparently she’s doing an Election Night Party at Haven (in NYC). Personally I’ll be at my own election night party in NEW Haven (in Connecticut), which isn’t quite as cool but I’m sure it will involve lots of pizza and ridiculous Yale Political Union members bashing CNN commentators.

Remember that laptop clutch Kimmie saw at the Vivenne Tam NYC Fashion Week Show? Well, we just got word that HP is producing the so-called HP Vivienne Tam Mini Edition “Digital Clutch” to have it in consumer hands before the holidays! Apparently you can reserve one by calling 1-800-230-5752 or visiting hpdirect.com/minivt. This guarantees you the opportunity to buy one in early December.

Now I definitely don’t need to write a birthday/christmas wishlist anymore because this darling toy is enough for both of them (I’m a December baby). I have no idea if I’ll be able to muster up $700 or convince my parents they love me enough in time to get this, but I’m definitely putting one on reserve just in case! At any rate, it’s the epitome of high fashion meets geek meets Chinese design, what is there not to be insanely excited about?! Adorable tiny portable size and weight, gorgeous reds and pinks, Vivenne Tam-designed wallpaper and covering, I’m already drooling.

More info, specs, links, and pictures after the jump!

I must confess - after the Harry Potter series ended, I never thought a literary phenomena as huge as it (or close to it) would happen (at least in my young adult lifetime). Surprise! Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know about the Twilight series. The popular book saga (compromised of 4 novels) detail the love story between ordinary gal Bella Swan who has just moved to Forks (Washington) from Phoenix (Arizona) and Edward Cullen, the super handsome quiet guy at her high school. What’s the catch then? Edward is a vampire and Bella’s blood has the most sickeningly intoxicating scent he has ever encountered.

The movie adaptation is coming out on Nov. 21st - the hype surrounding it is huge (as evidenced by the countdown posts on the LA Times blog)

Fans of the series have been selling out Twilight merchandise as soon as its become available, visited the movie sets, etc.

Personally, I’ve enjoyed reading the books and seeing how the fan base has grown. Although not at Harry Potter proportions just quite yet (give it time), “Twilight” has swept the globe.

Tell me - have you read the books? What do you think of them? Excited for the movie?

I just got wind of a new site in the makings that might be very relevant for all the potential business girls here who use both Facebook and LinkedIn and wish they could have a combo of both. Scheduled to launch on January 1st, PinkLinx.com is a self described “online business networking community for women. Connect with women from all industries including established career women, women entrepreneurs and women just starting their careers.”

A comment left by Theresa Petruzzelli, President at US Media International on the LinkedIn Forte Foundation group’s discussion board:

LinkedIn and Facebook combo - not a dream any longer

Hi Ladies, I have been reading alot of the comments in many of the women’s linkedin groups. Many women feel Linkedin is not social enough and while facebook is more social, it is not professional enough. 9 months ago, I myself, noticed the lack of social applications on linkedin but thought facebook wasn’t viewed as quite professional enough for my clients to visit. PinkLinx was born. PinklInx.com is launching January 1st. It is a combination of linkedin and facebook. It will be the only international womens business networking community on the internet of its kind. Please feel free to sign up for the email notification to be alerted when the site launches in January. Looking forward to seeing all of you there!

I sense a competitor to the Forte Foundation and 85 Broads (established women’s business networks with extensive reach). But for what it’s worth, PinkLinx is certainly a cute name. Guess we’ll have to wait until January to make any assessment.

After all my blogging on Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin, it’s no surprise I’ve been keeping up with the 2008 elections and keeping an eye on the gal hoarding the most limelight - Sarah Palin.

Watching tonight’s debate I couldn’t figure out what irritates me so much about her. Is it the Barbie doll hair? Is it it the dumbing down of everything into mommy-speak? Is it my inability to take her seriously because of her teenage daughter’s pregnancy despite strict religious upbringing?

That’s when I realized… I’m a Mean Girl. Specifically part of the growing contingent of Mean Girls who may or may not wear pink on Wednesdays but definitely are hating on Sarah Palin because she’s just too suspiciously pretty and ditzy to be trusted with power.

I gotta take this quote out of an article from Time Magazine written by Belinda Luscombe because it describes this Mean Girls effect SO well:
