Cheeky. Daft. Loo. Bloody hell.

Imagine all of these words said by a guy from the Bronx. No offense, but it isn’t exactly fun to hear.

No, the only way these words or slang terms will ever be sexy is when read in the divine London accent. Cockney need not apply; if you’ve ever seen a Guy Ritchie film and had no idea what was being said, chances are it was the cockney accent.

The UK is compromised of multiple segments so every area has a unique accent for herself - but that’s another story for another time. Here is a video that does a better job at it than I do.

Warning, vulgar language.

I like to think I’m a musical person, and to an extent, I am. For six years, I’ve played the alto saxophone in band. I had an on and off relationship with the piano since first grade. I can blast about four notes on the trumpet and baritone. I crash and slam the percussion “toys”, and I sort of can play the beginning chords of Deep Purple’s “Smoke on Water” on the guitar. While I love to play instruments, I love hearing other people perform more, especially if they are really good at the instruments to the point of being professional. Here are my favourite instrument to listen to while I’m being “serenaded”.

We’re finally in the New Year and there are a handful of things I’m looking forward to. I hope this year is better than the last and that I actually keep my resolutions. It’ll be the first year that I actually do so wish me luck!

Sweatin\' to the Oldies

I usually don’t make New Year’s Resolutions, but I guess I’ll think of some for the coming year. So here’s my list of what I probably won’t end up doing in 2009, but definitely should.

1) Exercise!
So, I’ve been a lazy pile for way to loooong. I was a gymnast for 15 years, so I always say that that means I never have to exercise again. Of course, that was 10 years ago, and I can’t even do the splits anymore, which is sad. My other excuse it that I walk alot running around the city and I go up and down the subways stairs and carry heavy stuff alot. These are poor excuses, so I swear this year I’ll get my six pack back! well, we’ll see.

Following Lan’s suit, I’ll share my New Year’s Resolution in hopes putting it in writing will make me more inclined to stick to it.

I only have one because I’ve discovered in years past that having multiple new year’s resolutions is a recipe for not getting any of them accomplished since I lack willpower like woah =/

And actually in the spirit of that sentiment, my new year’s resolution is:

My hometown of Tripoli, Iowa

So after a week back in the good old American Heartland, I’m finally back in the Big Apple. However, after over 5 years of living in NYC, I almost miss the Midwest. I thought it was impossible, but no, it’s true. While, I still won’t ever want to live in Iowa again, I miss all the good stuff Iowa has to offer. Here is a list of Iowa’s good attributes:

2009 is coming up and I’m NOT looking forward to it. I realized the other day that I will be turning 20 soon (February). I felt incredibly old and unfulfilled all of a sudden. So I figured it was about time I set some goals for myself for the New Year.

Santa appropriately didn’t bring me anything this year since I’ve been naughty and not keeping up with my fab faves on regular schedule =/ But that’s why New Year’s is right around the bend - so we can reform and start anew!

Unfortunately life has been terrifically boring as of late given that the flurry of finals devolved rapidly into a flurry of sleeping in late and pigging out on Christmas cookies. I’m sure many of you school gals can sympathize with my favorite activities of Winter Break:

1) Skiing: Actually this year I chose not to go skiing because I’ve got lots of random things to attend to and so there isn’t really time, but I usually really look forward to getting all my ski gear out and driving up to Vermont, New Hampshire, or upstate New York with my dad. There is nothing like a really crazy new black diamond trail to get the blood pumping and the oxygen filling the lungs. Or create great excuses for fun snow gear (I have a matching hello kitty scarf and hat set, no joke xD).

For my last 2008 “Fab Faves” entry, I’m going to end with a list of my reflections this year. Despite my health going kaput this year, I’m amazed by how much had happened in a single year! I hope you all had a great year! I’m looking forward to 2009 and hope it will be better than 2008!

Girl Gamer: Expanded my game selections for the DS. In fact, the DS is the only system I played on all year long! I even played games I never would have thought to play! (ie: Princess Debut)

Proud Nerd: Discovered that I graduated cum laude with a 3.85 gpa from my uni, to which my mother heard me say it as “cula” and “goon goh goo ma” (sweet potato in Korean).

Keeping theme with the last few posts from our GirlyBubble bloggers, I thought I’d talk about my favorite holiday memories. Since I’m not too excited about “Christmas” in general, this post is moreso a collection of seasonal memories. Don’t get me wrong, I do like Christmas….it’s just that I’ve grown out of the childish glee that comes along with the lights, trees, and the hopes of Santa breaking and entering my house to reverse rob me.
