The history of Hello Kitty is both boring and fascinating at the same time. To start with, Hello Kitty has no real animated character design history. Unlike Mickey Mouse or Snoopy, she was not born out of a cartoon show or a video game. Put simply, Hello Kitty started out in the ’70s as an image put on stuff. Without any real advertising, the success of Hello Kitty skyrocketed Sanrio into a billion dollar business with half of the revenue from Hello Kitty. I remember back when this book came out it caused a lot of stir, good and bad…some were saying it was too harsh, and others were saying it was just what some women needed to hear. Well, at the time I was too young to care about dating, so I was just an innocent bystander. Now, they’ve made the book into a movie, and even tho I still don’t care much for the dating game, it looks like a really cute movie. It doesn’t look like a complete “chick flick” and I like all of the actors involved, so I may cough up the dough to go check it out. More »
