I randomly turned on the TV to watch this “bitchy blonde” whip some crappy salons into shape which turns out to be Bravo’s new TV series, Tabatha’s Salon Takeover.

If you’re into reality TV shows, you’ll know that Tabatha is a former contestant on Shear Genius. I’ve never seen a full episode of Shear Genius myself but I’m surprised she was kicked off because I love her attitude. She doesn’t take nonsense from anyone but when you are on her good side, she’s surprisingly quite the sweetheart. Aw.

So the first episode I watched was about a salon called De Cielo Salon in Burbank, CA. It’s a complete mess but that’s because the owner is some lazy jerk that makes up a lot of excuses. It was really frustrating to watch the show and honestly it seemed like a lost cause; however, the salon ended up doing better after they got a taste of Tabatha, not so much the owner though.

While I love Tabatha, the show seems a bit like Fox’s Nanny 911. Basically some jerks can’t get their stuff together so they need backup from professionals. Overall some learn and some don’t but it’s always a happy ending for the most part. They should have just gone the Janis Dickenson route and made a Tabatha Coffey’s Hairstylist Agency – or something like that.

In Korea I was some what spoiled since my hairstylist was a friend of my mom’s so I always got a discount on getting my hair done (trim = $1 - $5, sometimes free depending on length). I miss my stylist so much and now that I’m in the US again, you would think I would just bite the bullet and deal with the overpriced salons (trim = $17?!) but no I didn’t. These past few months I’ve been trimming my own bangs which have saved loads for me. Why bother having someone else do it when you can do just the same for free? Yeah you can say it’s professional and safe but it’s really simple but more on that later.

So far I’ve stuck to the semi side swept bangs but I’ve wanted to change it up for awhile now that they’re long again. I haven’t decided what style I want so I figured I would ask you!

P.S. I just noticed how huge my forehead looks in that photo. LOL! More »
