So yesterday I was trolling around teh innanetz when I came across a blog titled “BE Unique Magazine” and saw the most amazing heels EVER! Now I’m not sure if these are hand made or what, but these puppies are bad-ass! They look like black suede with door stoppers for heels! How cool is that?! I want, I want, I want!!!
It took me a while to realize that the heels were made of door stops and at first I figured they were a pair of the heeless Antonio Berardi heels that Victoria Beckham was rocking a while back, but then I realized that one; they aren’t that hideous, and two; they actually had a heel! So now, I’m on a mission to find out whether Miss Girl made those (or had them made) or if they’re in retail stores, because seriously…I WANT!
They’re such a unique item, and I love the zippered jeans with them. What’s really cool is that, they look so normal from the front <333
ACK! I need those shoes in my life. If only I knew where to find them… More »

Who needs the hassle of a real boyfriend when you can have a virtual one? In Japan, girls are going crazy over a new website that combines social networking and an online game where you have to try to hook up with one of four boys (maybe you can do more than one).
The website is called WebKare (online boyfriend in Japanese) and after two weeks of launching, it has accumulated 10,000 members and over 3.5 million page views. Just goes to show how boy crazy Japan is or just how lonely everyone is. The game requires you to interact with these virtual hotties through short cartoon sequences that don’t leave much room for actual interaction. Boo! But all the events in the storyline are saved digitally in an album on the site. Note that there are a few a games like this for the Nintendo DS; however, like WebKare they are only in Japanese.
Also with your WebKare profile, you can “life stream” (aka Twitter) in addition to interact with other players and their bfs which helps you advance in the game.
While I love the idea of a boyfriend who doesn’t give me a headache, realistically it can’t replace the void I feel when I’m not cuddling something adorable and warm. Although I can always get a dog if I get sick of my bg. JK!

In the most recent episode of Paris Hilton’s My New BFF, Paris goes off to Tokyo, Japan to present at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan ’08. She takes 4 of the contestants with leaving the remaining 8 to bite the dust.
Before the trip, the contestants had to do a challenge where they had to look their best while riding a roller coaster. All except Onch take on the challenge who ends up crying and over dramatized the situation. He begs Paris to be left out and she lets him off the hook. After the challenge, Paris announces her trip and she takes Brittany, Natasha, Brian and Sinsu. They weren’t able to pack so they left immediately in the same clothes.
While in Tokyo, they enjoy the cuisine which turned out to be quite freaky. They went to a teppanyaki restaurant which fried live shrimp. Gross! Next they are given $500 to shop for a new outfit for the awards AND told that two of them will be eliminated. While everyone else enjoyed the free shopping spree, Natasha bitches about the fashion. Talk about being ungrateful. They then meet Paris at the awards who then invites Brittany to join her on stage after she asked if she could go with her. All the other contestants get jealous (so am I) but then move along to the after party. They get mobbed by fans and party with Simple Plan leaving the night very memorable.
Back at the mansion; however, a cat fight breaks out after Corrie makes a racism remark about Onch being able to do nails because he’s Taiwanese. The girls gang up on her and it easily turns nasty as Zui threatens to stab Corrie. I guess we have an idea about who gets eliminated next!
Till then, the 4 in Japan are up for elimination. After much consideration on their behavior, Paris decides to eliminate Sinsu and Brian for having a drinking problem and not standing out (respectively). Honestly she should have cut Natasha and Corrie who have obvious attitude issues.

Let’s see, in my first “fab faves” post I briefly talked about up and coming Japanese R&B singer Emi Maria. She’s one of my newer favorites and recently she’s been making some moves, and it seems like she’s definitely next in line for her time to shine! (lol that rhymed!) So far she’s got one EP, one mini album and a plethora of collaborations under her belt. Not to mention her latest collection: iTunes presents: Live from Tokyo, a sampler of her upcoming full length album titled A Ballad of My Own, which is set for a November 5 release. Of course I’m really excited for this, especially after peeping the live sampler. It took some time for me to get around to actually listening to the whole thing, but now that I have, I think a review is in order.
First I have to say I’m going to be slightly biased as I’m a sucker for lives. And I don’t mean those live pre-recorded-real-time-lip-synced lives. I’m talking sour notes, perfect pitch, unscripted side story, that’s-not-the-right-lyric lives. I think that’s what makes lives so great. So while I will base my opinions on the good notes and slip ups, deep down I love it! lol So with that being said, here goes: More »

I hope you guys remember the group Gifted One I blogged about last month. Well I’m so excited because I just found out the boys have released their first PV today and I gotta say…I LURV it! HAHA Gifted One’s single is definitely on my to get list. If you head over to iTunes you too can cop the single. CHEA! I totally recommend them if you like R&B. Definitely!
It’s a torrid love affair. At first I hadn’t the slightest idea what takoyaki was. A friend of mine introduced me to it one summer and at first, i didn’t really like it. Then I decided to give it a couple more gos and now… I love love love it! (thanks to my little cousin craving it, I’d have to take her to get some)
Last night I had some takoyaki at Kenka down on St. Mark’s with a friend of mine. It was delish…but I’m such a piggy I didn’t wait for it to cool and burned the mess out of my tongue. I’m good tho, because it was worth it =9 If you’ve never had it, I totally recommend getting some asap….mmmmm.
I totally want to try to make takoyaki at home so, I was totally stoked to see that some other takoyaki lover has uploaded a tutorial on Youtube….now the only thing left I guess is to get cooking, no? More »
The Japanese franchise Beard Papa’s claims to make the world’s best cream puffs. Very bold of them and honestly I couldn’t believe it at first, but then I ate one. Along with my love for Victoria’s Secret Men’s cologne is desserts and these cream puffs are one of my favorites.
These are definitely not your average cream puffs as they are bigger in size and better in taste. They’re equivalent in width and height to a cheese burger from Mcdonald’s which is considerably big for a cream puff. You’ll definitely get your money’s worth as each of these cost roughly $1.75.
If you’re not convinced by the size, then the cream should be the tipping point. It’s specially made using all natural ingredients and whip cream giving it a sweet creamy taste. Also, they don’t fill the cream puff until you order it so the cream is fresh and cool. But I suggest you’re careful when you eat it because it’ll explode all over your face as they really do fill it.
So far the franchise is concentrated on the East and West coast but they are looking to do worldwide. More »

Cocoro Books (DH Publishing, Inc.) has recently published a photo book containing various Visual Kei bands and their fashion. The book is said to contain various photos from all sorts of bands with little or no similarities to each other so you don’t have to worry about seeing the same thing over and over again. Talk about useful and insightful. Music in Japan has definitely reached a whole new level as they’ve become more influential in pop culture and their listeners.
However, this isn’t the only photo book that Cocoro has released on fashion. They’ve released multitudes of other photo books on all the different types of Japanese fashions for a great price and in full color. It’s like they understand what people want.
You can buy your photo book from Amazon.

Mini laptops are the cutest things ever and quite handy when you don’t want to carry around an actual laptop. However, none have actually been worth sporting except when it came to this one.
Computer titan Fujitsu and adorable Tokidoki have joined forces to create the ultimate mini laptop that is not only cute, but earth friendly. With green has becoming the new pink, the laptop is built to be ultra lightweight in addition to using less power making it energy efficient. As far as cuteness goes, the laptop flaunts the kawaii Tokidoki characters that’ll make any little girl squeal (including myself).
Unfortunately it’s a limited edition and only available in Japan but there’s been a lot of buzz for it in the US and Europe which brings in a little ray of hope.

Tartans are no longer in boring blue but popping pink after a British designer became inspired by Japanese cherry blossoms and a Scottish Samurai. When I first heard this I thought it was a pop tart but no its not! Tartan is actually a common striped pattern that is typically seen on school uniforms. And we all know Japan is big on school uniforms. More »

Maruione Shinjuku is a Japanese fashion retailer that typically revolves around gothic, lolita and punk styles. While other people tend to turn away from goths and punk, in Japan it’s become more than just some dark makeup. Thus Maruione Shinjuku brings to you the fourth annual Individual Fashion Expo on September 23, 2008 at the JCB Hall in Tokyo Dome City.
The Individual Fashion Expo showcases the global expansion of Japanese gothic, lolita and punk fashion. There will be 21 different iconic clothing brands that will participate in the show which will also feature both professional models and readers of the popular Japanese magazine, KERA.
Having nonprofessional, everyday people model is considered normal in Japan as fashion is for everyday people. And plus when you walk around Japan, you can see some of the trendiest people unlike some places where a wife beater and jeans is the everyday look. More »

I discovered this product while riding the New York subway. Apparently Japan has struck gold again by creating mascara that will give you longer eyelashes by applying little fibers along with the mascara; an easier solution to false eyelashes.
They’re calling it Fiberwig Mascara and it’s made by a Japanese company called Imju pronounced “ee-myoo”. They’re one of the leading cosmetics brand in Japan and are said to create products that are innovative and different. So far I would say they fit that to a pin.
The mascara is something that I’ve never seen or heard of before and users are saying it works. However the only thing is you’ll need to apply it a few times before you see any dramatic results. In addition to giving you the long lashes you crave, the product is also smudge proof (confirmed by various buyers) in addition to water proofed but easily removed by warm water and clump free.
Now mascara is my number one must have in my makeup bag and while I would love to spend $22 on fiberwig, it would have to also thicken and curl my eyelashes. But I guess that’s asking for too much.

Cosplay or costume play is when someone dresses up as a character from specifically but not limited to Japanese media such as anime, music artists and games. While it may seem just like Halloween it’s become much more.
Cosplaying has become a big part of Japanese fashion in addition to parts of Europe and the US. You can typically see cosplayers on the streets of Japan and it wouldn’t be considered unusual. Some districts in Japan are even well known for attracting cosplayers such as the Harajuku district or Akihabara. Here you can not only find cosplayers but other popular Japanese fashion. It’s the Japanese version of 5th/Fashion Avenue in New York.
While it is common on the streets, there are also conventions dedicated to the world of cosplaying. Comiket is possibly the single largest and most famous event attended by cosplayers. Otherwise known as Comic Market or CM, it’s considered the world’s largest comic convention and held twice a year in Tokyo, Japan.
I have never cosplayed but I do plan to in the future after attending my first cosplay event in August. It really is a different world.
