If you’re not of African descent, the phrases “Good Hair” and “Bad Hair” may just seem like innocent ways to say you’re having a good hair day/bad hair day…or someone’s hairstyle is hideous/gorgeous…but if you are Black or African American, then you know how truly disturbing those little phrases can be. They can and have scarred many Black, African and even some Latino people with natrually kinky and tightly curled hair into thinking there is something wrong with them, that they need to change it, that their hair and consequently they themselves, just aren’t good enough. It’s a very big issue within the African American society specifically because it stems from slavery days when those with “good hair” and “light skin” (example: mixed race slaves) were allowed to be the house slaves while the “bad hair” and “dark skinned” ones had to work in the fields. Also mixed into that is the then later on practice of colorism by Black people themselves.

It’s the gift of the curly gods and trust me, once you try this stuff, you’ll be hooked!

It’s so fun to use: it has the consistency of snot, or slime…but it smells sooooo delicious. Kinda like warm vanilla cupcakes or some other sugary confection. The first time I used it tho, I got this white sticky residue after my hair dried (alright you pervs, that’s enough), so be careful when you use it that you don’t glob on too much. A little REALLY goes a long way with this stuff. More »
