A friend in New York recently submitted this photo of a pink store fronted Korean gift store called Valentine. The store, located in Flushing (surprise, surprise),sells cutesy Korean gifts and loads of Hello Kitty goods. I personally haven’t been, but I believe it — just look at the window! See something familiar? More »

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love New York City. Words cannot express my love for New York City, so all I have to offer is this picture of a cute poodle wearing jeans strapped to a burly biker dudette. Nowhere else could this picture been taken. Sadly, I am not in New York. More »

And finally, ‘Spotted in New York’ pics that I actually took myself. If you can remember, last month I was in New York City to cover fashion week for OMGHaute. As hectic as fashion week was, I managed some time to myself to check out other boroughs of New York City. Originally in Flushing to have dinner, I happened upon a Chinese bakery that had a lot of cute cakes, cupcakes and pretty much anything that adds to my ever-expanding belly. More »

I know I hate on Orange County from time to time for not being New York City, but at the end of the day — I really don’t. How could I, when I live somewhere where macaron towers stand tall in storefront displays? I’m also from “The OC,” so not much hate is to be had from me. I’ve yet to see this in person but this specific Eiffel Tower-shaped macaron tower was created by XT Patisserie for display at Paris in a Cup, a local tea salon I live near. More »

Artist Rebecca Ward is a whiz when it comes to creating visually stimulating designs and patterns from strategically placed tape. Her installations are fun and colorful, which represent the fun and colorful spirit of Kate Spade designs. Ward was enlisted to makeover one of the fashion brand’s New York City stores, which is located in SoHo. More »

Yet another reason why Japan is infinitely cooler: Hello Kitty Buses. I’ve spent the past few days in New York City using public transportation and let me tell you — there is nothing cute about riding the bus or riding the subway. If I could run the universe, I’d make it so everyone used public Hello Kitty transportation. More »

You know how it’s typical of me to feature delicious user-submitted dessert pictures from New York City followed by me wishing I was in New York City? This time around, things are different. I’m actually in New York City this week to cover fashion week on behalf of our latest sister fashion site, OMGHaute. With confidence I can say that the previous pictures never did any justice to what’s here and that, man — there’s a lot of great dessert to eat! More »

The Empire Hotel in New York City is best known for being Chuck Bass’ investment property on Gossip Girl. Naturally, like any hotel should, The Empire has recently milked the attention received from Gossip Girl fans by including Gossip Girl cocktails on their drink menu. Gossip Girl cocktails include the “S,” the “B,” XOXO and the I’m Chuck Bass cocktail. Luckily for you, you don’t have to travel all the way to New York to make a Gossip Girl cocktail. More »

Of all beauty parlors I have ever set foot in or seen pictures of, Michael Angelo’s Wonderland Beauty Parlor in New York City really sets itself apart as being literally, a wonderland. Looking at these submitted photos, you kind of wonder if you’re looking at somewhere Alice in Wonderland would go to get her hair did or basically anywhere out of a fairytale story. According to Yelp.com it’s thisclose to getting 5 stars from just 21 reviews. If you’re familiar with Yelp, you’ll know that it is pretty epic. More »

Given these past weeks of blogging all the most interesting, cute-spiring things found in New York, I realized that I had to see this all for myself. That and, I was invited to the Mixr Christmas party in New York, so I kind of had to go. Being also a genius, I left my camera behind during my stay this weekend and could only rely on a colleague’s camera phone. I guess you can say I’m more in love with New York than I was before? It only takes a gingerbread house in Times Square and Bergdorf Goodman window displays to affirm this. More »

I’m a firm believer in that for all things in life, bigger is usually…better. It’s okay to let your imaginations run wild for just a little bit. When your imagination is all settled, here’s something to consider: Such is not the case with toys! The smaller a toy is, the cuter! Especially if it’s any one of these toys that were spotted in New York City’s Toy Tokyo store. More »

And yet another reason has been made known to me why New York City is so much cooler than where I live now. Apparently, retailers spend tons of money on store displays and it’s quite the big deal there. In Southern California, window displays are more of an afterthought. This is largely because walking is deemed a highly offensive crime. Well, not really — people spend more time in their cars than anything else. Thus, the window displays of most stores in Southern California aren’t as decadently cute as the one pictured. More »

By now I’m sure a lot of people are thinking that I’m from New York. That’s hardly the case. I’m actually in Southern California — land of the aspiring actresses and models, where it’s never cold when it’s winter or hot when it’s summer and people use their own cars as a means of transportation. And the subway steps are uninspiring. Believe it or not, California has subway systems. They’re not nearly as exciting or cute as they are in New York. Take the picture of the subway steps recently submitted to me above. More »

I recently had a conversation with someone from New York City where I had to explain the nature of my car-commuting California lifestyle. Part of that lifestyle deems it unnecessary for me to own an iPod or MP3 player because I spend most of my time in my car, listening to my car stereo. I want to say that this is because I’m kind of a big deal, but actually, it’s typical here for people to not be pedestrians in Southern California. Looking at this limited edition iRiver Swarovski crystal-studded Hello Kitty mp3 player however, is totally changing my mind about the way I think of MP3 players. More »

From the city that brought you the heart-shaped puddle, comes these cute animal cupcakes spotted in Grand Central Station. As with every edible item that gets submitted to me, I have to ask, “REALLY, BAKERY, REALLY? Do you expect people to eat that when it’s so cute? That’s almost some form of animal cruelty! Sigh. So the alcoholic version of the Manhattan cocktail may be popularized on HBO’s Sex in the City or maybe…Manhattan (I don’t know, just a guess.), but I actually happen to find it the most foul tasting cocktail, ever. I have nothing against whiskey either — the Manhattan cocktail just leaves me a bad taste. What shouldn’t leave a bad taste, is the nonalcoholic version of the classic Manhattan cocktail. More »

Sorry this is late. I’ve been preoccupied with BoA week over on Ningin.com.

So the season finale of Paris Hilton’s My New BFF started and ended out with a bang.

The final two girls were taken on a trip to NYC for some one on one time with Paris. First to go was Brittany who seemly had a more intimate time with Paris than Vanessa did. They bonded over a NYC tour in a helicopter, dined at the famous Serendipity and went shopping where Paris treated Brittany. On the other hand, Vanessa was taken to the Hamptons for a relaxing aka boring trip where she got a BFF ring. Uh oh? More »

Fashion week is coming up and guess whose going? That’s right, yours truly is. While InStyle magazine is not my bible, I am looking forward to a handful of designers that I find both fashionable and amazing.

Anna Sui Anna Sui is probably one of the most prominent Asian fashion designers in the world. She started with a small boutique in the Soho district of New York which reflected her flea market furniture and dolly head mannequins style. She continued on her career path and has been successful since. Putting aside that I’m an avid Asian lover, I’m really looking forward to her because she practically speaks to me. If you’ve seen her beauty shops, you’ll know that she isn’t your average designer. Her Victorian, 80’s, goth style is something unique and attractive. She mixes an assortment of patterns and colors especially pink, purple and black that puts Hello Kitty to shame. I loved her Spring 2008 Collection and can’t wait to see what she’s come up with for this Spring. More »
