The history of Hello Kitty is both boring and fascinating at the same time. To start with, Hello Kitty has no real animated character design history. Unlike Mickey Mouse or Snoopy, she was not born out of a cartoon show or a video game. Put simply, Hello Kitty started out in the ’70s as an image put on stuff. Without any real advertising, the success of Hello Kitty skyrocketed Sanrio into a billion dollar business with half of the revenue from Hello Kitty. Quite honestly, I am not a huge Christmas person, probably because I am not a Christian, but I did grow up in an environment that exposed me to Christmas, especially by television. When I was growing up, I watched a lot of cartoons and films, like any “normal” child. Because of this exposure, I discovered that the cartoons and films I shunned as I grew older had somehow affected me on a subconscious level. Several years ago, I went on a nostalgia trip, and I found myself wanting to watch these shows that made up my childhood. Now I try to make it a tradition to watch these every year. More »

I have this semi-secret love for bags, especially messenger style bags. I hate purses because the strap never stays on my shoulder, so I constantly have to hold on to it, which is not exactly fun. However, for the longest time I only had two bags I really used to go out with. Well, more than two if you count backpacks. However, now a third came into place, and it will prove to be useful.
