In a fit of madness, designer Helen Red Richards managed to produce one of the strangest mergings of technology and fashion I’ve ever seen. Combining the style and glam of the 1970s with old school GameBoys, she created several pairs of these funky shoes for a Nintendo campaign in 2001, which became a popular trend among the Japanese youth for awhile– or so they claim. Sweethearts and Twitter have come together to create the newest phrase for the 145 year old candy, which is “Tweet Me.” Consumers were the reason behind this union. An online survey was conducted where they got to choose phrases that would end up on the heart-shaped Valentine’s candy. “Tweet Me” was first, while “Text Me” and “Love Bug” (inspired by the Jonas Brothers song) came in second and third. Nothing says love like, “‘Til death do us part.” However, in the case of Tokidoki characters Adios and Ciao Ciao, death has not brought them apart, but together since they are both grim reapers. Since they represent an eternal love, Simone Legno of Tokidoki and Mimoco have come together to create the ideal Valentine’s Day gift–his and hers Adios and Ciao Ciao USB drives. More »

First Docomo released the Q-Pot Melting Chocolate phones and now they’ve teamed up with Seventeen Magazine (Japan) to release the “SH-05B” on Feb. 5. For a phone that comes in two shades of pink and endorsed by Michelle Pfeifer in Grease 2, they couldn’t come up with a more creative name? Sounds a little drab next to “Melting Chocolate.” The pink shades the phone comes in are Yurukawa pink which means “loosely pink” and yancha pink which means “mischievous pink.” More »

Technology hasn’t always been chic. I remember the dark days when it was more function over form. Aesthetically, fashionable consumers had limited choices. However, those days are over, and this year has brought us technology that is not only functional, but cute and colorful as well. Here’s my list of Top 10 Girl Gadgets of 2009. More »

I feel like it’s slowly becoming my duty to inform people of the cute things they shouldn’t be eating because some sort of poisoning might result. Take Japan’s latest Docomo Q-pot Melting Chocolate phone. If the Docomo Q-pot phones had (cute chocolate) feet, it’d kick the LG Chocolate in the ass. It literally looks like a bar of chocolate! Although Q-pot is best known for its food-inspired accessories, you can’t actually eat them — the human digestive system isn’t capable of digesting. More »

In case anyone’s been wondering, I’ve been an awfully good girl this year. I’ve been so good, you should probably start thinking about what to get me for Christmas. Just in case you’re fresh out of ideas, might I point you in the direction of all things USB-friendly? Like say USB panda head speakers, perhaps? More »

There’s just no escaping China. China is a force to be reckoned with and is literally, EVERYWHERE. Even my boss is Chinese. People, language, dim sum, pink digital HD camcorders — it’s like China is IN my brain waiting for the next GirlyBubble thought to be born. Looking at this super awesome pink digital HD camcorder from Chinavasion, my only thought now besides, “OMG! HAVE! WANT! NEED!” is why can’t pink be a communist color instead of red? More »

Yeah I know I’m kinda late and all, but I just found out about the Flip. It’s one of the cutest, coolest mini video cameras I’ve seen! It’s got three versions of it: the Mino, the Ultra and the Video.
The Mino is the smallest of the group weighing only 3.3oz. It’s also the only version that’s customizable, which is really cool. The Ultra, while it isn’t up for customization, does come in white piped with bright colors like lime green, fuschia, and a shocking orange. The original Flip Video is probably my least favorite because it only comes in black or white, and it doesn’t have a rechargeable battery but it’s still kinda cool. Check out the website for more info on the specs and stuff if you’re interested in that sort of thing. For me it just has to work (and be pretty).
Also on the website, you can find demo videos for each version in different lighting and situations to get a good look on the quality, but if you’re like me and don’t trust the company “brochure” fully, you can watch this youtube video of New York Times reporter David Pogue, comparing the Flip Ultra’s video quality with a traditional video camera.
