Like the necklace I’m wearing? I do too. My sister’s finally found something that she’s good at other than terrorizing her siblings and washing dishes: making jewelry. She’s opened up a shop on Etsy (dreamsbythesea) featuring nautical, vintage, and storybook-themed jewelry of her design. More »

It’s the golden rule of every fashionista that you should always mix tasteful vintage with modern pieces to achieve instant chic. I, for one, tend to question the notion of ‘instant chic.’ It’s not everyday I have an instant to put together an outfit that mixes vintage and modern, and I’m not one to coordinate my closet like Cher from Clueless. (sorry, I couldn’t help it lol) More »

Believe it or not, veils are back! You probably never knew they were in the first time, but yep, they were. My grandma has a great selection of cocktail hats with and without veils from the 1940’s (my fave fashion decade). I used to borrow her hats for plays and musicals in high school. Now, I wonder if she’d let me take some back to NYC with me. Anyways, if you can’t find vintage veiled hats, never fear, Urban Outfitters has, of course, knocked them off for cheap. Check them out at Urban Outfitters. Also check out Pixie Market for some cute lil’ hats. I made veiled hair accessories for my Fall 2008 fashion show (see below). Today’s modern veils offer an edgy spin on an old fashion friend. So pick one up, put it on, and transform yourself into a sexy mysterious siren. More »
